Parking Assist PARKTRONIC
Active Parking Assist
ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)
Prevents wheel lock during braking and maintains steerability.
ABS active from ~3 mph (5 km/h).
% If ABS warning lamp lights up continuously, the system may be impaired or malfunctioning.
BAS (Brake Assist System)
& WARNING Risk of accident due to BAS malfunction: braking distance may increase in emergencies.
BAS supports emergency braking by automatically boosting brake pressure while ABS prevents wheel lock.
Deactivated when brake pedal released.
ESP® (Electronic Stability Program)
& WARNING Risk of skidding if ESP® is deactivated: vehicle stabilization not performed.
ESP® intervenes by braking wheels and adjusting engine output if vehicle deviates from driver intention.
% When ESP® warning lamp flashes, one or more wheels reached grip limit. Adapt driving style and avoid deactivating ESP®.
Deactivate ESP® only in:
Using snow chains
Deep snow
Sand or gravel
ETS/4ETS (Electronic Traction System)
Part of ESP®, improves traction on slippery roads.
Intervenes by braking spinning wheels or transferring torque to wheels with traction.
STEER CONTROL
Provides steering assistance for vehicle stabilization on wet/slippery surfaces or during skidding.
System may be impaired if ESP® or steering is malfunctioning.
HOLD Function
Holds the vehicle at a standstill without pressing the brake pedal, e.g., in traffic.
% Only an aid. Incline must not exceed 30%.
& WARNING Risk if HOLD active when leaving vehicle: secure vehicle before exit.
Activation requirements:
Vehicle stationary
Driver's door closed or seatbelt fastened
Vehicle started or automatically switched off by ECO start/stop
Electric parking brake released
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC deactivated
Transmission in h, k, or i
Activate: depress brake pedal until display appears, then release.
Deactivate: depress accelerator or brake until display disappears. HOLD also deactivates if:
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC activated
Transmission shifted to j
Vehicle secured with electric parking brake
Hill Start Assist
Holds vehicle briefly on a hill while switching foot from brake to accelerator.
& WARNING Risk of rolling away: do not leave vehicle during Hill Start Assist.
ATTENTION ASSIST
Assists on long, monotonous journeys by detecting fatigue or lapses in concentration.
