Air Vents

Front Air Vents
  • To open or close: hold air vent 1 in the center and turn it to the left (open) or right (closed) as far as it will go.
  • To set the airflow direction: hold air vent 1 in the center and move it up, down, left, or right.
Rear Air Vents
  • To open or close: turn controller 1 to the left or right as far as it will go.
  • To set the airflow direction: hold controller 1 in the center and move it up, down, left, or right.

Driving: Power Supply & Vehicle Start

Safety Warnings
  • Risk of accident and injury: Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.
  • Risk of death from exhaust gases: Never leave the engine or auxiliary heating running in an enclosed space without ventilation.
  • Risk of fire: Regularly check for flammable materials in the engine compartment or exhaust system.
Switching on Power Supply
  • Requirements: SmartKey in vehicle and recognized; brake pedal not depressed.
  • Press button 1 once to switch on power supply. Example: activate windshield wipers.
  • Power supply switches off if driver's door is opened or button 1 pressed twice more.
Starting the Vehicle
  • Press button 1 twice to start. Indicator and warning lamps illuminate.
  • Vehicle switches off if not started within 15 minutes or button 1 is pressed once.
Emergency Operation Mode
  • If the vehicle does not start, place SmartKey in marked space 2 (remove from key ring first).
  • Vehicle starts after a short time. Remove SmartKey to continue driving.
  • For further starts, SmartKey must remain in marked space 2.
Remote Online Start
  • Ensure legal permissions, safety, fuel tank level, and battery charge before remote start.
  • Maximum two consecutive starting attempts; engine runs for ten minutes per start.

Breaking-in Notes

  • Drive at varying speeds and engine speeds during first 1,000 miles (1,500 km).
  • Do not exceed 85 mph (140 km/h).
  • Shift to next gear before red zone in tachometer; avoid manual downshifts for braking.
  • Gradually increase engine speed; accelerate fully only after 1,000 miles (1,500 km).
  • Brake pads, discs, and tires require several hundred kilometers to achieve optimal performance.

Optimized Acceleration

  • Warning: Wheels may spin; risk of skidding and accidents if ESP® is deactivated.
  • Ensure no obstacles nearby, vehicle broken in, tires and vehicle in good condition, and high-grip roadway.
  • Procedure: Engage h drive, straighten steering, select sport program B or C, deactivate ESP®, hold brake, press accelerator fully, release brake after 5 seconds.
  • After acceleration, reactivate ESP®; drivetrain may become hot and ready for next acceleration after a few minutes.

Notes on Driving

Driver Footwell
  • Objects: Stow securely to prevent pedal obstruction.
  • Floor mats: Install securely; do not stack or use loose mats.
  • Footwear: Wear suitable shoes; avoid high heels, slippers, or platform soles.
Vehicle Operation Warnings
  • Do not switch off the vehicle while driving; may reduce safety functions.
