ISOFIX Mounting Bracket
Before every journey, make sure that the LATCH-type (ISOFIX) child restraint system is engaged correctly in both mounting brackets in the vehicle.
Note: Damage to the seat belt for the center seat during installation of the child restraint system.
- Make sure that the seat belt is not trapped.
- Attach the LATCH-type (ISOFIX) child restraint system to both mounting brackets in the vehicle.
Fastening a Top Tether
Warning: Risk of injury or death if the rear seat backrests are not locked after Top Tether belts are installed. The rear seat backrests may fold forwards while driving, reducing child restraint protection.
- Always lock rear seat backrests after installing Top Tether belts.
- Observe the lock verification indicator. If not engaged, the red indicator will be visible.
- If the child restraint system has a Top Tether belt:
- Slide head restraint upwards if necessary.
- Fold up cover of Top Tether anchorage.
- Install the child restraint system with Top Tether following manufacturer instructions.
- Guide Top Tether belt under head restraint between the bars.
- Hook Top Tether into anchorage without twisting.
- Tension Top Tether according to manufacturer instructions.
- Fold down cover of Top Tether anchorage.
- Slide head restraint downwards if necessary, without interfering with Top Tether belt routing.
Securing Child Restraint System with Seat Belt
Warning: Risk of accident if the rear bench seat, rear seat, and seat backrest are not engaged. Objects and occupants may be pushed with increased force, causing injury.
- Make sure the rear bench seat, rear seat, and seat backrest are engaged before every trip.
- Observe manufacturer installation and operating instructions for child restraint systems.
- Also secure Top Tether if present.
- Adjust front seat so it does not touch rearward-facing or forward-facing child restraint systems if applicable.
- Remove head restraint if necessary when installing forward-facing child restraint systems.
- Ensure child restraint base rests fully on seat surface and shoulder belt is correctly routed.
Notes on Child Restraint Systems on Front Passenger Seat
Warning: Risk of injury or fatal injury when using a rearward-facing child restraint system while the co-driver airbag is enabled. Always ensure the co-driver airbag is disabled. NEVER use rearward-facing child restraint with an ENABLED FRONT AIRBAG.
- Observe status of front passenger airbag on PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp.
- For rearward-facing child restraints, the airbag must be disabled (PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF lit).
- For forward-facing child restraints, remove head restraint if needed and ensure backrest rests on seat backrest.
- Do not put child restraint under strain from roof, seat cushion, or head restraint.
- Ensure child's feet do not touch front seat; move seat slightly forward if necessary.
Warning: Risk of injury or death due to objects between seat surface and child restraint system. Do not place any objects between the seat and child restraint.
- Set front passenger seat as far back as possible and adjust height if possible.
- Fully retract seat cushion length adjustment and adjust seat cushion inclination.
- Set seat backrest to most vertical position possible.
- Install child restraint system ensuring entire base rests on seat surface and shoulder belt is correctly routed forward and downwards.
Child Safety Locks
Warning: Risk of accident and injury due to children left unattended. Children may open doors, exit the vehicle, operate equipment, or set the vehicle in motion.
- Never leave children unattended in the vehicle.
- Always take SmartKey and lock the vehicle when leaving.
- Keep SmartKey out of reach of children.
Warning: Danger to life due to exposure to extreme heat or cold in the vehicle. Never leave persons, especially children, unattended in the vehicle.
