ATTENTION ASSIST and Driver Display Information

Information Displayed in the Driver Display

  • Length of the journey since the last break
  • Attention level determined by ATTENTION ASSIST:
    • More segments in the circle → higher detected attention level
    • Fewer segments → lower detected attention level
  • % If ATTENTION ASSIST cannot calculate attention, "System Suspended" appears
  • % If a warning is given, multimedia system offers to search for a rest area
  • % Sensitivity level is stored and restored when restarting the vehicle

System Limits for ATTENTION ASSIST

  • Active between 37 mph (60 km/h) and 124 mph (200 km/h)
  • Function may be restricted if:
    • Driving < 30 minutes
    • Poor road conditions (uneven, potholes)
    • Strong side wind
    • Sporty driving style (high cornering speeds, high acceleration)
    • Steering Assist active via Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
    • Clock set incorrectly
    • Frequent lane changes with speed variations
  • % System resets when:
    • Vehicle switched off
    • Driver unfastens seatbelt and opens door

Setting ATTENTION ASSIST

  • Navigate in multimedia system: Settings → Assistance → ATTENTION ASSIST
  • Tap current setting → Select Standard or Sensitive

Cruise Control

  • Stored speed resumes after overtaking if accelerator released
  • Speed range: ≥15 mph (20 km/h) to maximum design speed
  • Displays on driver display:
    • h (gray): selected but inactive
    • h (green): active
    • Stored speed shown under h display
  • System limits: may not maintain speed on uphill; reduce gear on steep downhill to use engine braking
  • & WARNING Do not use in heavy traffic, slippery roads, or poor visibility

  • Steering wheel controls:
    • J: Adopts stored/detected speed
    • ±: Deactivates cruise control
    • M: Activates cruise control
    • N: Deactivates cruise control
    • 1: Increase/decrease speed
  • Activating: press M or N → stores current speed; press J → recalls last stored speed
  • % Stored speed deleted when vehicle switched off
  • Increasing/decreasing speed:
    • Swipe control panel 1 up/down → adjust by 1 mph (1 km/h)
    • Briefly press M or N → next value ending in 5 mph / 0 km/h
    • Press accelerator to desired speed → press M on control panel 1
  • Adopting detected speed with Traffic Sign Assist → press J
  • Deactivating: press ± or N, or brake/ESP intervenes
