Active Lane Keeping Assist
Display 1 appears in the driver display and a warning tone sounds in the following situations:
- A steering intervention by Active Lane Keeping Assist lasts longer than approximately 10 seconds.
- The system carries out two or more steering interventions within approximately 3 minutes without any driver intervention.
In the settings, you can set the system's sensitivity and support level, and choose whether it reacts to discontinuous lane markings or only continuous markings.
Status displays for Active Lane Keeping Assist
- White: Deactivated
- Yellow: Malfunction. Observe display messages
- Gray: Activated but not operating
- Green: Activated and operating. Lane marking green on active side
- Red: Guided back into lane with course-correcting steering. Lane marking red on warning side
Vehicles without Driving Assistance Package: if both lane markings show red, an emergency stop is initiated.
Active Lane Change Assist
If the front wheel drives over a detected lane marking, it is highlighted red in the Assistance menu.
Vehicles with active ambient lighting: if Warning Support is active, the warning is also accompanied by ambient lighting.
System limits
No lane-correcting intervention occurs but a warning is given in these situations:
- You clearly steer, brake, or accelerate
- A driving safety system intervenes (ESP®, Active Brake Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist)
- Sporty driving style with high cornering or acceleration
- ESP® is deactivated
- Loss of tire pressure or defective tire detected
System may be impaired in poor visibility, glare, dirty/fogged/damaged cameras, unclear or worn lane markings, short distance to vehicle in front, rapidly changing lanes, narrow/winding roads. Observe driving system notes and responsibility.
Activating/Deactivating Active Lane Keeping Assist
Multimedia system:
- Settings > Assistance > Collision Avoidance > Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Switch function on/off or via Favorites menu
Setting Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Set sensitivity: Early, Med., or Late
- Activate/deactivate support on discontinuous lane markings

Rear View Camera
Monitors area behind the vehicle. Engaging reverse gear automatically shows the image on the central display. Only an aid; responsibility for maneuvering remains with driver.
Vehicles without Parking Package
- Standard view:
- Guide lines at distances: 1.6 ft, 3.3 ft, 5 ft, 9.9 ft
- Path marking tires course with current steering angle (dynamic)
- Driven surface depending on steering angle (dynamic)
- Guide line at ~1.0 ft from rear area
- Wide-angle view
Pedestrian braking function
Available only without Parking Package. Prevents collisions with pedestrians when backing up at < 9 mph (15 km/h). Camera image must be shown. Automatically active when rear view camera is on.
- & WARNING: Cannot always clearly detect people or obstacles. May brake unnecessarily or not at all. Always observe surroundings and be ready to brake.
- Not available on inclines or if camera not operational

Parking Assist Operational Displays
- Areas shown in blue when operational
- Color indicates distance to obstacle:
- Blue: > 3.3 ft (1 m)
- Yellow: 3.3 ft - 2.2 ft (1 m - 0.7 m)
- Orange: 2.2 ft - 1.2 ft (0.7 m - 0.4 m)
- Red: < 1.2 ft (0.4 m)
