Exterior Lighting and Combination Switch Operations
Light Switch Functions
- W: Left-hand standing lights
- X: Right-hand standing lights
- T: Parking lights and license plate lamp
- Ã: Automatic driving lights (preferred light switch position)
- L: Low beam/high beam
- R: Switches the rear fog light on/off
When low beam is activated, the indicator lamp for the parking lights will be deactivated and replaced by the low-beam indicator lamp.
# Always park your vehicle safely using sufficient lighting according to legal stipulations.
NOTE: Battery discharging by operating the standing lights. Operating standing lights for hours strains the battery. Use right X or left W parking light where possible. If battery is low, standing or parking lights may switch off automatically to allow engine start.
The exterior lighting (except standing and parking lights) switches off automatically when the driver's door is opened. Observe notes on surround lighting.
Accident Scene Lighting
- Switch off the vehicle.
- Switch on the hazard warning light.
- Turn the light switch from à to L position. Low beam will switch on despite vehicle being off.
The accident scene lighting switches off if:
- You switch off the hazard warning lights.
- You turn the light switch back to Ã.
- Battery is insufficiently charged.
Automatic Driving Lights Function
When the vehicle is switched on, parking lamps, low beam, and daytime running lamps are switched on automatically depending on ambient light.
WARNING: Risk of accident when low beam is off in poor visibility. When light switch is set to Ã, low beam may not switch on automatically in fog, snow, spray, or other poor visibility conditions. Turn the light switch to L in such cases. Automatic driving lights are only an aid; the driver is responsible for vehicle lighting.
