Intelligent Light System Function

The headlamps adapt to driving and weather situations and provide extended functions for improved illumination of the road.

Availability depends on the country.

The system is active only when it is dark.

Active Headlamps Function
  • Headlamps follow the steering movements.
  • Relevant areas are better illuminated during a journey.
  • Functions active when low beam is switched on.
  • Lane course evaluation may adjust the light in advance.
Cornering Light Function

Improves road illumination over a wide angle in the turning direction. Active only with low beam on.

  • Speeds below 25 mph (40 km/h): active when turn signal or steering wheel is turned.
  • Speeds 25–43 mph (40–70 km/h): active when steering wheel is turned.
  • Roundabout/Intersection: activated on both sides based on navigation; remains active until leaving roundabout/intersection.
Highway Mode Function (Canada)

Increases cone brightness and range for better visibility.

  • Active if highway journey is detected via speed, multifunction camera, and navigation system.
  • Inactive at speeds below 50 mph (80 km/h).
Enhanced Fog Light Function (Canada)
  • Active below 43 mph (70 km/h) when rear fog light is on.
  • Deactivated above 62 mph (100 km/h) or when rear fog light is off.
Bad Weather Light Function (Canada)

Reduces reflections in rain by dimming individual headlamp areas, reducing glare for driver and other road users.

City Lighting Function (Canada)
  • Improves illumination of roadsides in urban areas using broad light distribution.
  • Active at low speeds and in illuminated urban areas.
Topographical Compensation Function

Adjusts headlamp range preemptively based on road height using map data. Keeps headlamp range virtually constant on gradients.

Available only with multimedia system with navigation.

Assistance Functions of DIGITAL LIGHT

Projects assistant displays in front of the vehicle to help the driver in critical situations.

  • Active when light switch is in à position and high beam is on.
  • Availability may vary by country; vehicle automatically adapts to local laws when crossing borders.
