Tesla Cybertruck 2025-2026 Spare Tire and Tool Kit
Spare Tire and Tool Kit
You can purchase a spare tire and tool kit for your Cybertruck on Tesla Shop. This is useful if you get a flat tire while driving.
Changing the Spare Tire
WARNING: NEVER get under the vehicle while Cybertruck is propped up with the jack. Doing so can cause serious injury or death.
Before using the spare tire, ensure it is adequately inflated according to the tire pressures on the driver’s side door pillar.
- Retrieve the spare tire from the cargo bed and set it aside.
- Ensure Cybertruck is on a flat, stable, and secure area with enough surrounding space.
- Set suspension to Medium and enable Jack Mode (Controls > Service > Jack Mode) to disable self-leveling (if equipped).
- WARNING: Jack Mode must be enabled. Otherwise, the vehicle may self-level while on the jack, causing serious injury or death.
- If available, chock the tire diagonal to the one you're working on. Place the chock in front of the tire on downhill, behind on uphill.
- Remove the wheel cover from the flat tire by pulling firmly and remove the mounting ring.
- Use the lug nut wrench with the socket to loosen the lug nuts on the wheel.
- Place the bottle jack under the vehicle's lift point (shown in green).
- WARNING: Do not get under the vehicle when it is on the jack. Do not place jack under the Battery or side rails (red).
- Lift the vehicle according to jack manufacturer instructions, enough to fit a fully inflated tire.
- Remove lug nuts and wheel. Set flat tire aside.
- Place the spare tire on lug studs and hand-tighten lug nuts.
- Lower the vehicle carefully, remove the jack once on the ground.
- Fully tighten lug nuts to 205 Nm (151 ft-lb).
- Replace mounting ring and wheel cover, securing outer clips first, then center clips.
- Disengage Jack Mode (Controls > Service > Jack Mode).
- Store old tire in the spare tire kit and tether it to the cargo bed using the strap and D-rings.
Spare Tire Storage
- Place the spare tire (in vinyl cover) against the front center of the truck bed.
- Locate the 2 bolt covers in the center of the bed.
- Latch the hooks onto the D-rings in the center of the bed.
- Connect and tighten the strap starting from the right-hand side. Secure excess strap to the top of the cover with Velcro.
- Jostle the tire to ensure it does not move in the cargo bed.
Opening the Powered Frunk with No Power
In the unlikely event Cybertruck has no low-voltage power, you cannot open the powered frunk using the touchscreen, mobile app, or powered frunk button. A 9V–16.5V or 30V–50V external power source is required (12V portable jump starter or another vehicle). A standard 9V battery may not suffice.
NOTE: These steps do not open the frunk if Cybertruck is locked with low voltage power. Performing this procedure unlatches the frunk; you must manually lift the liftgate carefully as it is heavy.
- Locate the front trunk access terminal beneath the front-left wheel well, behind the headlights.
- Loosen the cover with your finger, pull down and toward you to expose the terminals. The cover is attached to a cable loop containing the red positive (+) and black negative (-) terminals.
