Voice Recognition System
General Information

You can operate many functions in the vehicle easily using voice commands.
Using the Voice Recognition System Optimally
- Speak clearly and distinctly at a normal volume. Speak louder when driving faster.
- Emphasize the words in the commands evenly and avoid long pauses.
- To reduce background noise, close all openings such as doors and windows. Make sure passengers are not speaking when giving a voice command.
- Do not direct vents toward the hands-free microphone located in the roof headliner near the front interior lights.
- Only the driver should speak, as the microphone is aimed toward the driver’s seating position.
Warning
- Always focus fully on driving. The driver is fully responsible for traffic safety.
- Do not use the voice recognition system in emergencies. Stress may affect voice recognition. Dial emergency numbers manually.
Tips
There are no voice guidance prompts when a dialog is active.
Description
Operating the Voice Recognition System
Applies to: vehicles with voice recognition system
Requirements: Ignition and MMI must be switched on. A supported system language must be set. No phone calls may be active and parking aid must be inactive.
Operating by Button
- Briefly press the voice control button on the multifunction steering wheel or press it in the center display.
- Say the desired command after the signal tone.
- To cancel, press and hold the button or say/press Cancel.
Operating with Voice Commands
- Select on the home screen: SETTINGS > General > Speech dialog system > Activate with “Hey Audi”.
- Say “Hey Audi” followed by the desired command.
- To cancel, say Cancel or press and hold the voice control button.
Commands and Assistance
- Available commands and help options appear in the voice recognition menu.
- Say or press Help for assistance.
- Say or press Pause to pause voice recognition.
- Press the voice button again to reactivate.
Additional Functions

Command During Voice Output
If enabled, you can say a new command while a prompt is playing.
Select: SETTINGS > General > Speech dialog system > Allow commands during voice output
Online Recognizer
Applies to: vehicles with online recognizer
- Activates advanced voice recognition features.
- Requires an active Internet connection and supported language.
- Activate via: SETTINGS > General > Speech dialog system > Consent to online speech recognizer.
- Read and accept the licensing agreement.
Amazon Alexa
Applies to: vehicles with Amazon Alexa integration
- Access selected Amazon Alexa functions.
- Requires myAudi account login and activated online recognizer.
- Select: USERS > Connect to Amazon Alexa.
- Activate voice control with “Hey Audi” and use the command “Alexa”.

Audi provides access to third-party services. Availability depends on the provider.
External Voice Operation
Applies to: vehicles with external speech dialog system
You can control the voice assistant of a connected mobile device through the vehicle.
Switching External Voice Operation On or Off
- Ignition and MMI must be on.
- A mobile phone must be connected via Handsfree profile.
- Press and hold the voice control button to activate.
- Press and hold again or press Cancel to deactivate.
Using External Voice Operation
- Say the command after the signal tone.
- Press the voice button briefly or press Resume to reactivate.
