Sitting correctly and safely
Correct passenger seating position
As the driver, ensure every passenger is sitting correctly and maintaining proper seating position while driving. Make sure that:
- Every passenger has adjusted their seat correctly.
- The steering wheel is adjusted correctly.
- The mirrors provide a sufficient view of the area around the vehicle.
- Every passenger has their head restraint adjusted correctly.
- Every passenger has their safety belt fastened correctly.
- Activation status of the front passenger airbag is suitable for the passenger.

Examples of incorrect seating positions
Incorrect seating positions reduce safety belt effectiveness and increase risk of injury. Examples of dangerous positions when the vehicle is in motion:

- Never stand, kneel, or tilt backrest too far on the seats.
- Never lean against the instrument panel or windows.
- Never lie down on the rear bench seat.
- Never sit only on the front section of the seat or sideways.
- Never place feet out of the window, on the instrument panel, or on seat cushions.
- Never ride in the footwell, armrests, or luggage compartment.
- Always wear the safety belt when seated.
Warning
- Incorrect seating positions, failure to wear a safety belt, or being too close to an airbag increases risk of serious or fatal injury.
Tips
If you or other passengers have physical limitations preventing correct seating, modifications may be necessary. Contact an authorized Audi dealer or customer support at 1-800-822-2834 for assistance.
