Emergency Call

Overview

Applies to: vehicles with emergency call function

An emergency call is a combination of data transmission and a phone call. The data transmission from the vehicle forwards important information, such as vehicle details and position data, to the emergency call center.

Depending on the country and vehicle equipment, different emergency call functions may be available. The emergency call allows you to request help as quickly as possible in dangerous situations and should only be used when emergency assistance is required.

Audi connect emergency call, also known as TPS emergency call, uses emergency call centers operated by third-party providers. With online roadside assistance, support can be requested in the event of a breakdown or minor accident.

WARNING

In areas with poor GPS reception or outside the coverage range of the mobile phone service provider, some functions and services may not be available. Data transmission may not be possible or functionality may be limited.

Emergency Call Service Information

The emergency call services are provided through a SIM card installed in the vehicle. These services depend on the availability of the mobile phone network used by the installed SIM card. Services provided by Audi are only available within the network coverage area selected by Audi.

Tips

The emergency call function cannot be deactivated in the Infotainment system settings.

The availability of the TPS emergency call may be limited to certain times.

The costs for call and data connections for TPS emergency calls are included in the price of the services.

Making an Emergency Call

Applies to: vehicles with emergency call function

Manual Emergency Call

Requirement: The ignition must be switched on.

Open the cover in the front headliner and press and hold the emergency call button until the LED begins to blink. The emergency call will then be initiated.

If the emergency call button is pressed unintentionally, press and hold the button again immediately until the LED remains illuminated. The emergency call will be canceled.

Automatic Emergency Call

Under certain circumstances, such as airbag deployment, the vehicle electrical system automatically initiates an emergency call. The LED in the emergency call button will blink and the emergency call will be made automatically. Automatic emergency calls cannot be canceled.

LED Status Indicators

Green indicates that the emergency call function is available.

Red indicates a malfunction in the emergency call system. An authorized Audi dealer or service facility should be contacted.

If the LED is off, the emergency call function is not available, possibly due to a lack of network coverage.

System Warnings

If a critical system failure occurs in the emergency call system, occupants will receive warning messages and LED status indications related to the availability of the emergency call function.

Tip

If an emergency call is canceled due to a poor connection, the system will automatically attempt to reconnect.

Emergency Call System Malfunction Messages

If the indicator light appears with a message stating limited availability, the emergency call function is restricted. In this case, calling the emergency call center may not be possible, although data transmission may still occur. Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or service facility immediately.

If the indicator light appears with a message stating the function is unavailable, emergency calls cannot be made. Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi service facility immediately to correct the malfunction.

Online Roadside Assistance

Applies to: vehicles with online roadside assistance

An online roadside assistance call combines data transmission with a phone call. The vehicle forwards important information, such as vehicle and position data, to the Audi service center to enable efficient assistance.

Calling Online Roadside Assistance

Press the online roadside assistance button in the front headliner. The LED in the button turns red and the roadside assistance call will be initiated.

If the button is pressed accidentally, press it again to cancel the call.

Audi Incident Assistance

In the event of a minor accident, the vehicle electrical system may detect the incident automatically. The driver can then choose between contacting online roadside assistance or making an emergency call through the MMI system.
