Switching the lights on and off

Fig. 42 Instrument panel: light switch with button

Light switch

Turn the light switch to the corresponding position when the ignition is switched on. The symbol and the selected position will turn on (except position 0).

  • O - The daytime running lights will automatically turn on. In some markets, you can switch the automatic daytime running lights on and off in the MMI.
  • AUTO - The headlights automatically adapt to the surrounding brightness.
  • 300 - Parking lights
  • 2D - Low beam headlights

When the low beam headlights or parking lights are switched on, the corresponding indicator light will turn on depending on vehicle equipment.

All-weather lights

Requirement: the light switch must be in the AUTO or Zo position. The headlights automatically adjust to reduce glare, for example, when the road surface is wet.

Automatic headlight range control

Your vehicle is equipped with automatic headlight range control. It reduces glare for oncoming traffic if the vehicle load changes. The headlight range adjusts automatically.

Audi adaptive light

Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive light. Audi adaptive light provides better visibility when driving in the dark. The lights are adapted to road conditions based on speed, intersections, and curves. The lights function only when the light switch is in AUTO and all-weather lights are off.

Warning

  • Observe safety precautions and limits of assist systems, sensors, and cameras.
  • Automatic headlights assist the driver but do not replace manual control in poor visibility (fog, darkness).

Tips

  • If the vehicle battery has been discharging, parking lights may switch off automatically.
  • The driver is responsible for adhering to local regulations when using lighting equipment.
  • Only front headlights turn on when daytime running lights are active.
  • In cool or damp weather, headlights, turn signals, and tail lights may fog temporarily but it does not affect service life.

Turn signal and high beam lever

Fig. 43 Operating lever: switching the light functions on and off

The lever operates turn signals, high beams, and the headlight flasher.

Turn signals

Activate the turn signal by moving the lever to the desired position with ignition on. The indicator light will flash. If tapped briefly, the turn signal blinks three times (convenience turn signal).

  • Right turn signal
  • Left turn signal

If a signal blinks twice as fast, a bulb has failed. Contact an authorized Audi dealer or service facility immediately.

High beams and headlight flasher

  • Move the lever to turn high beams on (vehicles with High Beam Assistant).
  • Move the lever to turn high beams off or operate the headlight flasher.

Warning

  • High beams can cause glare for other drivers. Only use them when safe.

High Beam Assistant

Applies to: vehicles with High Beam Assistant. Automatically adjusts high beams based on surrounding conditions using a camera on the rearview mirror mount.

Activating high beam assistant

Requirement: Light switch in AUTO position and high beam assistant enabled in MMI. Tap the lever forward to activate. The indicator light will appear in the cluster.

Manual high beam operation

  • Activate manually: tap the lever forward. Indicator light turns on.
  • Deactivate manually: pull the lever back. High Beam Assistant is deactivated.

Operating the headlight flasher

Pull the lever back to operate. If high beams are off, the assistant remains active.

Warning

  • Observe safety precautions and limits of assist systems, sensors, and cameras.
  • High Beam Assistant only assists the driver. Manual control may still be needed.

Tips

Always adhere to local regulations when using lighting equipment to reduce glare and ensure safety.

Adjusting the exterior lighting

Applies to: MMI. Select on the home screen: VEHICLE > Light & Visibility > Exterior lighting. You can adjust settings based on vehicle equipment.

Automatic headlights

  • Activation time - Adjust if headlights switch on Early, Medium, or Late based on light sensor sensitivity.
  • High beam assistant - Switch on or off.

Entry/exit lighting

Illuminates the area around the vehicle when unlocked or when the driver’s door is opened with ignition off. Works in darkness with light switch in AUTO. Front and rear daytime running lights switch on automatically each time the vehicle is unlocked.

Daytime running lights

The daytime running lights function automatically based on vehicle equipment.
