Storage and convenience

Power sources

When the ignition is switched on, you may be able to use multiple power sources for external devices, depending on the vehicle equipment.

12 volt sockets

You can connect electrical accessories to the 12 volt sockets. The power usage from the sockets must not exceed a total of 120 watts. Do not connect multiple devices to the sockets in the vehicle at the same time.

The 12 volt sockets are labeled with the 12V symbol. They are located in the front center console, in the rear, and on the side trim panel in the luggage compartment.

USB ports

Applies to: vehicles with USB ports

You can charge mobile devices using the USB ports. Depending on the vehicle, the USB ports may be labeled with one of the following symbols: +, 42, or CHARGE ONLY.

Warning

  • To reduce the risk of fatal injury, store all connected devices securely when driving.
  • Incorrect usage can lead to serious injuries or burns. Never leave children unattended in the vehicle with the key.

Note

  • Read the operating manuals for connected devices.
  • Do not attempt to charge the vehicle battery by connecting accessories that provide power to the power sources.
  • Do not connect devices whose network voltage does not match the socket's designed network class.
  • Disconnect connectors carefully to avoid damage.

Tips

Do not connect other devices to the sockets when using the factory-provided compressor. Temporary power consumption may exceed the limit.

Cup holders

Applies to: vehicles with cup holders

Beverage containers in the cup holders should always have a lid to prevent spills and damage to vehicle equipment.

Storage and compartments

Storage area behind the rear head restraints

Applies to: vehicles with storage area behind rear head restraints

The storage area can be used to carry light pieces of clothing.

Warning

The storage compartment must not be used to transport heavy objects, hard objects, or animals, as this increases risk of injury during sudden maneuvers or accidents.

Note

Ensure heating grid strips for the rear window defogger are not damaged by abrasive objects.

Tips

Ventilation slots between the rear window and storage area must not be covered to ensure proper ventilation.

Other storage locations

Depending on vehicle equipment, there are multiple storage areas, compartments, and retainers, such as the glove compartment, for safely storing objects.

Warning

  • Always keep storage compartments closed while driving.
  • Loose objects can be thrown around during sudden maneuvers, increasing accident risk.
  • Use door trim compartments only for small objects that do not interfere with side airbags.
  • Secure objects in the luggage compartment using straps suitable for their weight. Maximum 11 lbs (5 kg) for strapped items.
  • Hang only lightweight clothing from garment hooks; do not use clothes hangers.
  • Ensure rear view is not blocked by clothing or objects.

Luggage compartment

General information:

  • Distribute load evenly.
  • Place heavy luggage as far forward as possible.
  • Use non-elastic cords attached to tie-downs to secure objects.

Warning

  • Luggage compartment cover is not for storing objects; objects placed on it increase risk of injury during maneuvers or accidents.
  • Always secure the luggage compartment cover when in use.
  • Loose objects must be stowed and secured at tie-downs. Heavy objects must be secured with suitable straps.
  • Transporting heavy objects shifts the vehicle's center of gravity, requiring adjustments to driving style and speed.
  • Never exceed permitted axle, load, or vehicle weight.
  • Never secure a child safety seat to the tie-downs.
  • Never leave the vehicle unattended with the luggage compartment lid open.
  • Do not allow children to play in or on the vehicle. Close and lock all doors and luggage lid when leaving the vehicle.
  • Never transport passengers in the luggage compartment; all passengers must wear safety belts.
