Due to the complex power supply, all work on batteries such as disconnecting or replacing should only be performed by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi Service Facility.
Multiple batteries with different technologies may be installed in your vehicle:
If the vehicle is not used for long periods, the battery will gradually drain. To ensure the vehicle can start, electrical equipment may be limited or switched off. Some convenience functions such as interior lighting or power seat adjustment may not be available until the engine is started.
Even when switched off, some equipment can drain the battery. Deep discharging causes chemical reactions that damage the battery. Charge the battery every month to prevent damage. Contact an authorized Audi dealer or Service Facility for more information (see page 235).
Cold weather places a high load on the 12-volt vehicle battery, reducing starting ability. Have the battery checked by an authorized Audi dealer or Service Facility before cold weather begins.
All work on the 12-volt vehicle battery must only be performed by an authorized Audi dealer or Service Facility.
The battery is developed based on installation location and equipped with safety features. For replacement, ask the dealer about electromagnetic compatibility, size, maintenance, power, and safety standards.
Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
Batteries must be disposed of using methods that do not harm the environment. Do not dispose of batteries in household trash. They contain harmful substances and recyclable materials. Contact an authorized Audi dealer or Service Facility for disposal information.
