Setup
Applies to: vehicles with Audi smartphone interface
You can connect your smartphone to the MMI with a cable or wirelessly using the Audi smartphone interface. Certain content on your smartphone is adapted in the MMI while driving and can be operated through the MMI.
Connecting Smartphones with a Cable
Requirement: Vehicle must be stationary, ignition on. iPhone (6th gen or newer) must have latest iOS, or Android smartphone must have Android Auto app with Android 5.0+.
- Connect smartphone to Audi music interface using a USB adapter (pages 203-204, fig. 157)
Connecting Smartphones Wirelessly
Applies to: vehicles with wireless Apple CarPlay / wireless Android Auto
Requirement: Vehicle stationary, ignition on. iPhone 6th gen+ with latest iOS, or Android 11+ with Android Auto.
- Switch on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your smartphone
- For wireless Apple CarPlay: Open Apple CarPlay settings in iPhone
- For wireless Android Auto: Ensure wireless Android Auto is allowed in app settings
- Enable Bluetooth function and visibility on MMI (page 275)
- MMI: Home → SETTINGS → Connected devices → Audi smartphone interface → New connection
- Select your smartphone from the list; press Q to update list if needed
- Follow system instructions and smartphone prompts
- If first use declined, MMI: Home → SETTINGS → Connected devices → Audi smartphone interface → select smartphone → follow instructions
Warning
- Driving requires complete attention. Never operate mobile devices while driving to avoid accidents.

Tips
- Functions depend on smartphone brand, OS version, app version, USB adapter, connection, cell provider, and smartphone settings
- Only front Audi music interface can be used for Audi smartphone interface (page 27)
- Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto not available in all countries or on all vehicles
- Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto may be unavailable in vehicles with navigation system or detected GPS position if embedded SIM not logged into mobile network (page 176)
- If smartphone has voice control, it can be operated via external voice recognition system
- MMI uses smartphone menu language
- Some MMI functions may not be available with active Audi smartphone interface
- No other mobile devices can connect via Bluetooth when Audi smartphone interface is active
- Usage depends on services availability through third-party providers
Troubleshooting

- Check smartphone battery charge
- Check USB adapter; use another if necessary
- Check if Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is available in the country
