Audi A4

Climate control system

Your vehicle has a deluxe automatic climate control system with three zones in which the temperature, air distribution, and air supply can be adjusted separately for the front left and right sides, as well as the temperature in the rear.

The climate control system warms, cools, dehumidifies, and filters the air in the vehicle interior. It is most effective when the windows and panoramic glass roof* are closed. If there is a build-up of heat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help speed up the cooling process.

The automatic climate control system maintains a set temperature automatically. In all heating mode functions except defrost, the blower only switches to a higher speed once the coolant reaches a certain temperature.

Active combination filter

When the fan is running, the filter reduces particulate matter, pollen, and odors in the interior.

Warning

  • Do not use recirculation mode for an extended period, as no fresh air is drawn in. This can fog the windows and increase accident risk. CO2 concentration may also rise, affecting concentration and well-being. Switch off recirculation and ventilate at the first sign of unwellness.
  • Applies to vehicles with seat heating: Individuals with reduced sensitivity to pain or temperature could develop burns when using seat heating. To reduce risk, these individuals should not use seat heating.

Note

Applies to vehicles with heated seats: Do not kneel on the seats or apply heavy pressure to the seat to avoid damage to heating elements.

For the sake of the environment

Energy can be saved by switching off A/C mode.

Tips

  • Keep the air intake in front of the windshield free of ice, snow, and leaves to prevent interference with heating/cooling and avoid window fogging.
  • Condensation from the cooling system may drip under the vehicle; this is normal.
  • The energy management system may temporarily switch off certain functions such as seat heating or rear window defogger. These systems resume when energy supply is restored.
  • Applies to vehicles with heated seats: Front passenger seat heating will not turn on automatically if more than 10 minutes have passed between switching the ignition off and on again.

Warm and cold

Operating in the cockpit: Fig. 92 3-zone deluxe automatic climate control system: controls.

Observe safety precautions. Press the knobs, buttons, or rocker switches to turn functions on/off. LED indicators turn on when a function is active. Some rocker switches may have multiple functions, activated by pressing multiple times. On right-hand drive vehicles*, some rocker switches functions are reversed. Driver and front passenger settings can be adjusted separately.

OFF - Switching the climate control system on/off

The [OFF] button switches the climate control system on or off. Airflow from outside is blocked when the system is switched off.

A/C Cooling mode

Cooling mode functions only with the blower on. If switched off, air is not cooled and humidity is not reduced, which may fog windows. Cooling mode switches off automatically at low outside temperatures.

Settings for cooling mode:

  • A/C MAX*: Maximum cooling; use briefly to reduce energy usage.
  • A/C ON: Activates cooling mode and controls it automatically.
  • A/C OFF: Switches off cooling mode.

AUTO Automatic mode

Maintains a constant temperature. Air temperature, airflow, and distribution are controlled automatically. Automatic mode can be switched on/off using the knob (@).

Temperature

Adjustable between 60°F (+16°C) and 84°F (28°C) using knob ©. Outside this range, LO or HI will appear, running the climate control at max heating/cooling level without temperature regulation.

SYNC Synchronization

Use the rocker switch G) to select. When on, driver’s settings apply to front passenger and rear (except seat heating/ventilation*). Changes on front passenger or rear override driver settings.
