To open the rear gate: Briefly press the rear gate opener button when the rear gate is closed. An electronic chirp will sound twice and the hazard warning flashers will flash twice. The rear gate will open automatically.
To stop the rear gate midway: Briefly press the opener button/power rear gate button on the inside edge while the rear gate is opening. Hazard warning flashers flash twice. If the button is pressed again, the rear gate will close. If briefly pressed while closed, the gate can open, but it cannot be stopped while opening.
To close the rear gate: Briefly press the power rear gate button on the inside edge. Electronic chirp and hazard flashers respond as above. The gate closes automatically. Briefly pressing again will open the gate, but stopping midway is not possible.
NOTE: When fully open, only the inside-edge power rear gate button functions.
The power rear gate can be opened and closed manually. Refer to “Manual rear gate†F2-38.
NOTE: Manual operation is not possible if the gate is stopped midway or the memory switch is ON and the gate is at the set height.
Memory switch (except Canada-spec models)
Memory switch (Canada-spec models)
You can register your desired rear gate height.
While ignition switch is in “LOCK/OFFâ€:
NOTE: Registered height can be changed by repeating procedure. Registration can start from ~12 in (30 cm) or more from fully closed.
NOTE: Gate opens to stored position even if opened using reverse function. Manual operation during memory function prevents closing via power button; use other button or manual close.
Touch sensors on left and right edges detect fingers, baggage, etc. while closing. Electronic chirp sounds 3 times and gate opens automatically. Gate opens fully or to memory height if reverse function used.
If fully opened gate is lowered by weight (e.g., snow), electronic chirp sounds and gate closes automatically.
NOTE: Remove snow before using power function. Manual close after fully opened power operation triggers drop prevention; not a malfunction.
WARNING: Never let hands, arms, head, or objects protrude. Injury may occur in sudden stops, sharp turns, accidents, or from outside objects.
Always check anti-entrapment precautions. Carry keys and never leave unattended children in the vehicle. Do not test anti-entrapment by placing body parts deliberately.
CAUTION: Do not sit on open moonroof edge. Do not operate if frozen. Avoid touching moving parts. If moonroof fails to close, have system checked by a SUBARU dealer. Operates only when ignition is “ONâ€.
To open: Press rear side of switch. Sunshade opens together. Stops ~8 in (20 cm) from fully open. Slide switch rearward to fully open.
To close: Press front side of switch. Momentarily push switch to stop moonroof at selected midway position while opening or closing.
