Vehicle Battery, Fuses and Wheels

Jump-Starting with Another Vehicle

WARNING: Risk of injury and vehicle damage! Lay jump start cables so they cannot be caught by rotating parts.

NOTICE: Short circuit risk! Terminal clamps must not touch each other or conductive parts. Vehicles must not touch each other.

Connect the Jump Start Cable
  • Connect terminal clamps in order:
    1. Flat battery - negative pole
    2. Current-emitting battery - negative pole
    3. Current-emitting battery - positive pole
    4. Earth point of engine to be started
Start the Engine
  • Start engine of current-giving vehicle and let it idle.
  • Start engine of vehicle with flat battery. If not starting within 10 seconds, wait 30 seconds and repeat.
Disconnecting the Cable
  • Disconnect cables in reverse order of connection.

Fuses

NOTICE: Fire hazard and electrical system damage. Do not repair fuses or use higher-rated fuses. Replace with new fuse of same amperage, preferably Å KODA Genuine Accessories.

Replacing a Fuse
  • Ignition key removed (without starter button) or ignition off with driver’s door open (with starter button).
  • All consumers switched off.
  • Use clamp inside fuse box cover to remove and replace fuse according to size.
Fuses in Dash Panel

Left-hand drive:

  • Open storage compartment, press button to open tray, change fuse, close compartment.

Right-hand drive:

  • Open storage compartment, loosen brake rod, press locking lugs, fold down compartment, change fuse, lock brake rod, close compartment.

Wheels

Tyres and Rims

NOTICE: Protect tyres from lubricants/fuel. Store wheels in cool, dry, dark place. Alloy rims may be damaged by grit.

Causes of Uneven Tyre Wear
  • Improper tyre pressure
  • Driving style
  • Wheel alignment error
  • Incorrect wheel balancing
Wheel Changes

Change wheels every 10,000 km for uniform wear. Follow running direction; replace tyres by axle. Only fit radial tyres of same type, size, and tread pattern.

Tyre Labelling

Example: 235/55 R18 100V

  • Tyre width: 235 mm
  • Height/width ratio: 55%
  • Radial code: R
  • Wheel diameter: 18"
  • Load index: 100 = 800 kg
  • Speed symbol: V = 240 km/h

WARNING: Do not exceed maximum tyre load or speed. Check tread wear indicators.

All-Season or Winter Tyres

Marked with M+S and mountain/snowflake symbol. Use on all four wheels with minimum tread 4 mm. Change to summer tyres above 7°C. Adjust speed limit in infotainment if tyre category is lower than vehicle max speed.

Snow Chains

Use only on front wheels on snow/ice. Remove wheel trims before fitting. Only use chains with max 13 mm links and locks.

SEAL Tyres

Increased resistance to air leakage. Replacement requires spare wheel or breakdown kit.

Spare and Emergency Wheels
  • Full spare = same as vehicle wheels
  • Temporary/emergency = narrower, warning label, use to reach garage
  • Mounting: loosen retaining belt, remove tool kit box, unscrew locknut, insert wheel, secure, replace tool kit
Changing the Wheel and Raising Vehicle

WARNING: Base of jack must be stable. Doors closed. Do not insert body parts under vehicle. Do not start engine while lifted.

NOTICE: Check tyre pressure after change. Tightening torque: 140 Nm. Do not grease or use corroded screws.

Breakdown Kit
  • Components: sticker, valve remover, inflation hose, air compressor, pressure indicator, 12V connector, ON/OFF switch, tyre inflation bottle, replacement valve core
  • Usage: repair tyre to reach nearest specialist garage. Max speed 80 km/h. Avoid full accelerations and hard braking.
Self-Help Sealant
  1. Unscrew valve cap and core
  2. Shake tyre inflation bottle and attach hose
  3. Fill sealing agent, replace valve core
  4. Inflate tyre using air compressor until 2.0–2.5 bar
  5. If not achieved, drive 10 m, redistribute sealant, repeat
Tyre Pressure

NOTICE: Check tyre pressure at least monthly, when cold, and save new values. Rapid loss → stop carefully.

Tyre Pressure Sticker

Located inside fuel filler flap. Shows inflation pressures for half load, full load, eco operation, tyre diameter, front/rear tyres, emergency wheel.

Tyre Pressure Monitor

System monitors pressure while driving. Stops vehicle if very rapid loss occurs. Save pressure values after changes, wheel replacements, or every 10,000 km / annually.
