Child seat
What you should be mindful of
For installing and using a child seat, follow both the instructions in this Owner’s Manual and the
child seat manufacturer’s instructions.
For safety reasons, children should preferably be transported on the rear seats.
Children should only be carried on the front passenger seat in exceptional cases.
Use child seats that comply with the ECE-R 44 European Economic Commission standard.
Child seats meeting this standard are marked with a large E in a circle with a test number below it.
Å KODA recommends using child seats from the Å KODA Genuine Accessories range. These seats are
designed and tested for Å KODA vehicles and meet the ECE-R 44 standard.
WARNING
- When installing a child seat in the second or third row, adjust the seat in front so there is no contact between the child seat and the front seat.
- Before installing a forward-facing child seat, adjust the headrest as low as possible.
- If the headrest prevents installation, remove it and reinstall it after removing the child seat.
- If using a child seat cushion, adjust the headrest so the child’s head is level with the top of the headrest but does not extend above it.
Using a child seat on the front passenger seat
Never use a rear-facing child seat on a seat protected by an active front airbag.
This could cause serious injury or death to the child.
This warning is also indicated by safety stickers:
- Sticker on the passenger sun visor.
- Sticker on the central body pillar on the passenger side.
The following instructions must be followed when using a child seat on the front passenger seat:
- Deactivate the front passenger airbag when using a rear-facing child seat.
- Adjust the passenger seat backrest to a vertical position if possible.
- Move the passenger seat as far back as possible.
- Adjust the passenger seat height to the highest possible position.
- Set the passenger seat belt as high as possible.
WARNING
Risk of the seat belt causing a neck injury to the transported child.
- For child seats in groups 2 and 3, ensure that the guide fitting on the child seat headrest is positioned at or above the seat belt height adjuster.
- Adjust the seat belt height so the belt runs smoothly through the guide fitting without bending or kinking.
WARNING
Once the rear-facing child seat is no longer used on the front passenger seat,
reactivate the front passenger airbag.
