Heated windscreen

Usage

Windscreen heating is used for defrosting or ventilating the windscreen.

Conditions
  • The engine must be running.
Operation

Heated rear window

  • Press the key to turn on the heated rear window.

Heated windscreen

  • Press the key to turn on the heated windscreen.

The windscreen heating switches off automatically after 10 minutes.

Settings

Automatic heated windscreen

The heated windscreen switches on automatically if the windscreen mists up.

This function can be configured in the Infotainment system menu.

  • Press the key on the Climatronic control panel and select the option on the Infotainment screen.
  • Or tap the relevant option directly on the Infotainment screen.
Troubleshooting

The indicator light in the button or below the button flashes

  • The heating does not work because the battery charging level is low.

Boot lid - with manual operation

Operation

Opening

  • Press the handle and lift the lid.

Opening via the handle is deactivated once the vehicle reaches a speed of 5 km/h. The function is reactivated after the vehicle stops and a door is opened.

Closing

  • Grasp the fixture A and pull the lid down.
CAUTION
Danger of opening the lid while driving! Ensure that the lock is properly engaged after closing the lid.
Set a delayed lid lock

If the lid is unlocked using the button on the key, it automatically locks again after closing.

The automatic locking delay can be extended by a specialist garage.

Boot lid - with electrical control

Operation
CAUTION
  • Operate the tailgate only when nobody or no objects are within the swivel area.
  • Ensure that the lock is properly engaged after closing the lid.
NOTICE
  • Do not manually close the tailgate while it is moving.
  • Before operating the tailgate, check that no objects are within the swivel area.
  • Ensure that no nearby objects could damage the vehicle interior or transported items.

If the tailgate hits an obstacle while closing, it stops and an audible signal sounds.

If the tailgate closes automatically due to weight (e.g. snow), a continuous beep sounds.

Handle in the tailgate
  • Press the handle to open, close, or stop the movement of the tailgate.
  • Opening via the handle is disabled when the vehicle speed exceeds 5 km/h.
  • The function becomes active again once the vehicle stops and a door is opened.
Button in the tailgate
  • Press the button to open, close, or stop the tailgate movement.
Button in the door
  • Pull and hold the button until the tailgate begins to open.
  • Pull and hold the button again until the tailgate closes fully.
  • Release or pull the button again to stop the movement.
Button on the key
  • Press the button to open, close, or stop the tailgate.
  • The locking function is available only on vehicles with a keyless locking system.
  • The key must be outside the vehicle and within 2 m of the tailgate.

The tailgate can also be closed by briefly pulling it downward.

Settings
Set and store the upper position of the tailgate

This is useful when opening the tailgate in limited spaces such as garages.

  1. Stop the tailgate in the desired position.
  2. Press and hold the button on the lower edge of the tailgate until an audible signal sounds.
Re-adjust the upper starting position
  1. Carefully raise the tailgate manually to its maximum limit.
  2. Press and hold the button on the lower edge of the tailgate until an audible signal sounds.
Troubleshooting

The tailgate does not react to the opening signal

  • Check for obstacles such as snow and remove them.
  • Press the handle on the tailgate and lift it manually.
  • Mechanically unlock the tailgate if necessary.

The tailgate does not react to the closing signal

  • Close the tailgate manually.
NOTICE
  • Close the tailgate slowly.
  • Push the tailgate downward and press the lock in the centre of the rear edge.

Electrically operated contactless boot lid

Operating conditions
  • Ignition must be switched off.
  • The vehicle key must be with you.
  • No trailer or accessory connected to the trailer socket.
Operation

Opening/closing the lid

  • Quickly swing a foot under the rear bumper in the sensor area.
  • If the lid does not move, wait a few seconds and repeat the motion.
Closing display

Audible signals sound when the lid closes.

Stopping or restoring lid movement
  • Stop the lid by quickly swinging your foot under the sensor.
  • Repeat the motion to restore the movement.
Restriction

The system may have limited functionality in the following situations:

  • Heavy rain.
  • Dirty rear bumper.
Settings

The function can be activated or deactivated in the Infotainment system menu.
