Manual air conditioning
What you should be mindful of
- We recommend a difference of max. 5°C between the outside temperature and the interior temperature.
- Switch the cooling system off about 10 minutes before the end of the journey to prevent odour formation.
- Annual disinfection of the air conditioning is recommended.
WARNING
Danger of misting! Always keep the fan on.
Operating conditions for the cooling system
- The outside temperature is below 2 °C.
- The engine is running.
- The blower is switched on.
Overview of the controls for manual air conditioning
- A: Set the temperature
- B: Set the blower speed
- C: Set the direction of the air outlet
- Switch recirculated air mode on/off
- Switch the cooling system on/off
After pressing the button, the indicator light illuminates, even if the conditions for switching on the cooling system are not met. The cooling system will start automatically once the conditions are met.
During operation, the engine idle speed may automatically increase.
Automatic activation of the cooling system
The system prevents windows from misting and activates in these cases:
- Fan is on and air distribution controller in the position (recirculation mode is switched off).
- Air distribution controller not in the position, recirculated air mode switched on.
Recirculated air mode
The recirculation mode prevents contaminated outside air from entering the vehicle interior. Briefly activating recirculation mode can increase cooling effect. In some cases, the system may switch recirculation mode on or off automatically.
WARNING
Risk of an accident! In recirculation mode, there is no fresh air supply from outside, which may reduce driver attention and cause fogging of windows. Keep recirculation mode on for a short time only.
Troubleshooting
Water under the vehicle: When the cooling system is operating, water can drip from the air conditioning system. This is normal and not a leak.
Fogging: Increase blower speed and switch on the cooling system.
Automatic switch-off: If coolant temperature is too high, the system may switch off automatically to ensure engine cooling.
Climatronic automatic air conditioning system
What you should be mindful of
- Maximum 5°C difference between outside and interior temperatures.
- Switch off the system 10 minutes before end of journey to prevent odours.
- Annual disinfection recommended.

Operation
- A: Set left side temperature
- B: Set right side temperature
- C: Set air outlet direction
- D: Set blower speed
- E/F: Depending on equipment, switch auxiliary heating/ventilation on/off or use residual engine heat
- H: Interior temperature sensor
- Switch recirculated air mode on/off
- Switch windscreen ventilation/defrost mode on/off
- Operate Climatronic via Infotainment system
- Switch maintenance of interior temperature on/off according to driver side setting
- Press - activate automatic mode (keeps temperature constant, prevents fogging)
- Hold - maintain interior temperature according to driver side (SYNC function)
- Switch cooling system on/off
Recirculated air mode
Prevents contaminated outside air from entering the vehicle. Brief activation can increase cooling effect.
WARNING
No fresh air supply in recirculation mode. Only use for short periods to avoid fogging and driver inattention.
Settings
Display settings menu:
- Tap the button on the Climatronic panel
- Or tap on the Infotainment screen
- A: Set left temperature
- B: Set right temperature
- C: Set operating power in automatic mode
- D: Select Climatronic mode
- E: Cooling system, circulating air, blower speed, air distribution
- F: Set rear temperature
Switch Climatronic on/off, or maintain interior temperature according to driver side. The function reduces penetration of pollutants and displays air purification status in the Infotainment screen.

Troubleshooting
Water under the vehicle: Normal drip from air conditioning system
Fogging: Increase blower speed and switch on the cooling system
Automatic switch-off: System may switch off to ensure engine cooling
Auxiliary heating and ventilation
Usage
The auxiliary heater warms the vehicle interior and engine. Auxiliary ventilation supplies fresh air when engine is off, lowering interior temperature, e.g., when parked in the sun.
DANGER
Risk of poisoning! Never operate the auxiliary heater in enclosed spaces.
Risk of fire! Switch off auxiliary heater before refuelling. Do not stop vehicle near flammable materials near exhaust pipe.
Functionality
The system heats or ventilates the interior depending on air conditioning settings before ignition is switched off. Fuel is consumed when heating.
Operating conditions
- Battery charge sufficient
- Fuel supply sufficient, instrument cluster not showing warning
Operation
- Switch on/off via air conditioning control panel button
- Switch on/off with radio remote control: hold the corresponding key, antenna facing upwards, distance ≥2 m from vehicle
- A: Indicator light
- B: Antenna
NOTICE
- Protect remote control from moisture, vibrations, and direct sunlight
- Indicator light: green 2s = switch on, red 2s = switch off
- Range: several hundred meters depending on battery, obstacles, or weather conditions
Set automatic switch-on
For manual air conditioning: use Infotainment menu. For Climatronic: press key on control panel and configure in Infotainment screen.
Settings and information in Infotainment
- A: Day and time when vehicle should be ready
- B: Heating/ventilation settings
- C: List of pre-selected times and activation/deactivation
- D: Set selected time and duration (10-60 min)
- E: Display windows in red for heating or blue for ventilation
- F: Currently displayed preset time
- G: Activate currently displayed preset time
- H: Set departure time
