Unlock Doors
NOTE
- On vehicles with central door locks, when locking or unlocking with the key, all doors will be locked or unlocked. Refer to “Central door locks”.
- If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless operation system, the driver’s door can be locked or unlocked with the emergency key. Refer to “Emergency key”.
To Lock or Unlock from Inside the Vehicle

NOTE
- The driver’s door can be opened without using the lock knob by pulling the inside door handle. On vehicles with central door locks, all other doors are unlocked at the same time.
- In vehicles equipped with a Dead Lock System, it is not possible to unlock the door by pushing the lock knob to the unlock side while the Dead Lock System is set.
To Lock Without Using the Key
Set the inside lock knob (1) to the locked position, and close the door (2).
NOTE
- The driver’s door cannot be locked using the inside lock knob while the driver’s door is open.
Rear Door Operation (Club Cab)
You can open or close the rear door while the front door is opened.
- Open the front door wide.
- Pull the door handle (A) of the rear door.
- Open the rear door.
- When closing, close the rear door first, then close the front door.
WARNING
- Ensure the front seat occupant has removed the seat belt before opening the rear door. Opening the rear door while the front seat belt is worn may cause serious injury.
- When closing the rear door, ensure hands and fingers are not trapped.
- Before driving, make sure the rear door is securely closed. An open door could result in occupants being thrown from the vehicle.
CAUTION
- Do not open or close the rear door when the front door is not completely open.
- Do not operate the rear and front doors at the same time.
- Do not close the rear door after closing the front door.
Central Door Locks
NOTE
- Repeated continuous locking and unlocking may activate the system’s protection circuit. If this occurs, wait approximately 1 minute before operating again.
Driver’s Door with Key

NOTE
- If equipped with the keyless operation system, the driver’s door can be locked or unlocked with the emergency key.
Driver’s Door with Inside Lock Knob

NOTE
- Be careful not to lock the doors while the key is inside the vehicle.
Vehicle-Speed Sensitive Automatic Door Lock
All doors lock automatically when vehicle speed exceeds approximately 15 km/h (9 mph). Doors unlock automatically in the event of a strong collision impact.
WARNING
- If automatic locking does not occur above 15 km/h (9 mph), have the vehicle inspected immediately.
- If doors unlock automatically while driving, have the vehicle inspected.
- If the SRS warning lamp does not come on or remains on, have the vehicle inspected.
- If the central door lock system is broken, have it inspected immediately.
NOTE
- Door unlocking may not occur depending on the collision angle or deformation.
- These functions are factory activated. Contact an authorized service point to activate or deactivate them.
Unlocking by Ignition Switch or Selector Lever
Vehicles with M/T: Doors unlock when the ignition switch is turned to “LOCK” or operation mode is OFF.
Vehicles with A/T: Doors unlock when the selector lever is placed in “P” while operation mode is ON, or when operation mode is OFF.
Dead Lock System*
The Dead Lock System prevents unlocking doors using inside lock knobs after the vehicle is locked using the keyless entry or keyless operation function.
CAUTION
- Do not set the Dead Lock System while someone is inside the vehicle.
Setting the System
- Turn ignition to “LOCK” and remove key, or set operation mode to OFF.
- Close all doors.
- Press the LOCK switch once (turn signals blink once).
- Press again within 2 seconds (turn signals blink three times).
Cancelling the System
- Press the UNLOCK switch on the key.
- Press the door lock/unlock switch while carrying the keyless operation key.
NOTE
- If no door is opened within 30 seconds, doors relock and the Dead Lock System resets.
- Using the key unlocks only the driver’s door and cancels the Dead Lock System for that door.
Child-Protection Rear Doors (Double Cab)

If the lever is set to locked, the rear door cannot be opened using the inside handle. Use the outside handle to open.
CAUTION
- Use child protection when driving with children in the rear seat to prevent accidental door opening.
Rear Gate
CAUTION
- Do not stand behind the exhaust pipe when loading/unloading.
- Avoid trapping fingers in the rear gate.
- Do not apply excessive weight to the rear gate.
- Ensure the rear gate is securely closed before driving.
To Open
Lift the handle and lower the rear gate.
To Close
Raise the rear gate and close firmly until securely latched.
Manual Window Control*

Electric Window Control*
The electric windows operate only when the ignition switch or operation mode is ON.
WARNING
- Ensure nothing (head, hand, finger) is trapped when operating windows.
- Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.
Lock Switch

WARNING
- When driving with children, press the window lock switch to disable passenger switches.
Safety Mechanism (Driver’s Window Only)
If a hand or head is trapped during automatic closing, the window lowers automatically.
WARNING
- If battery terminals are disconnected or fuse replaced, the safety mechanism is cancelled and serious injury could result.
CAUTION
- The safety mechanism is cancelled just before the window fully closes.
- The mechanism is deactivated while the switch is pulled up.
