Mitsubishi L200

Parking Brake

To Apply

  1. Firmly depress and hold the brake pedal, then pull the lever up without pushing the button at the end of the hand grip.

CAUTION: Always press the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete stop before applying the parking brake. Pulling the lever while moving may lock the rear wheels, making the vehicle unstable and causing malfunction.

NOTE: Apply sufficient force to hold the vehicle stationary. If it does not hold, have the vehicle checked immediately.

To Release

  1. Firmly depress and hold the brake pedal, then pull the lever up slightly.
  2. Push the button at the end of the hand grip.
  3. Lower the lever fully.

CAUTION: Ensure the parking brake is fully released and the brake warning lamp is off before driving. Driving with the parking brake engaged may overheat the brakes and cause failure. If the warning lamp does not turn off, have the brake system checked immediately.

NOTE: To prevent unintentional release, the lever must be pulled slightly before pushing down; pressing the button alone does not release the brake.

Parking

Fully engage the parking brake and move the gearshift lever to 1st or "R" (Reverse) for M/T vehicles, or set the selector lever to "P" (PARK) for A/T vehicles.

Parking with Engine Running

Never leave the engine running while resting or in a closed/poorly ventilated space.

WARNING: Leaving the engine running risks injury or death from accidental gear movement or toxic exhaust fumes.

Where to Park

WARNING: Avoid parking where combustible materials may contact a hot exhaust. Always lock doors, carry the key, and park in well-lit areas when leaving the vehicle unattended.

Steering Wheel Height and Reach Adjustment

  1. Release the lever while holding the steering wheel up.
  2. Adjust the wheel to the desired position.
  3. Lock securely by pulling the lever fully upward.
