Seat Belt Care and Caution

CAUTION: Belt retraction may become difficult if belts and rings are dirty. Keep them clean and refer to seat belt maintenance instructions.

Pregnant Women and Persons with Medical Conditions

Pregnant women should always wear seat belts and consult their doctor for guidance.

  • Wear the lap belt snugly and as low as possible over the hips.
  • Position the shoulder belt across the shoulder, never over the stomach.
  • Individuals with medical conditions should follow doctor recommendations.

Emergency Locking Mode

The seat belt remains comfortable during normal driving and locks during a collision.

  • If locked and difficult to pull, retract once and pull slowly.
  • If still locked, pull sharply once, loosen, and pull slowly again.

Automatic Locking Mode

This mode secures child-restraint systems.

  • Pull the belt fully out to activate automatic locking.
  • Retract completely to return to emergency locking mode.

Fastening the Seat Belt

  • Insert the seat belt tongue into the buckle.
  • Position lap belt low across hips, not abdomen.
  • Adjust shoulder belt to fit snugly.
  • Ensure rear belts pass correctly through guides without twisting.

Unfastening the Seat Belt

  • Press the buckle button.
  • If belt does not retract fully, check for twists or kinks.
  • Have faulty belts inspected by an expert repairer.

Front Shoulder Belt Adjuster

  • Raise adjuster upward to increase height.
  • Press knob and lower to reduce height.
  • Ensure adjuster locks securely after adjustment.

Seat Belt Warning System

If an occupant is unbelted, warning lights or beeps activate. Rear seat indicator lights turn on when belts are fastened and turn off after approximately 60 seconds.

Pretensioner and Load Limiting Systems

These systems enhance occupant protection when seat belts are worn properly.

  • Pretensioners remove slack during collisions and airbag deployment.
  • Load limiter releases belt webbing gradually to reduce chest force.
  • Systems must be inspected and replaced after deployment.
WARNING:
  • Always wear seat belts correctly to ensure proper protection.
  • Have pretensioners and load limiters inspected after collisions.
  • Do not modify wiring or components of the pretensioner system.
  • Dispose of pretensioner systems only through qualified repairers.

Child-Restraint Precautions

Use appropriate child-restraint systems based on the child’s age and size, and follow local regulations.

  • Rear seat is safest for children up to 12 years old.
  • Never use rear-facing restraints with an active front passenger airbag.
  • Install child-restraint systems according to manufacturer instructions.
WARNING:
  • Always secure children using proper restraints.
  • Never hold a child in arms while driving.
  • Never place rear-facing restraints in front seat with active airbag.
  • Do not allow children to lean near airbag deployment zones.
  • Never use one seat belt for multiple occupants.
  • Remove head restraint when installing most child-restraint systems.
CAUTION: Seat belts and child-restraint systems can become hot in closed vehicles. Check temperature before use.

ISOFIX Anchor Usage

The vehicle includes ISOFIX anchors on rear seats for secure installation of compatible child-restraint systems. Refer to ISOFIX instructions when using these anchors.
