Parking Sensor Sound and Detection

The rate of intermittent sound beeps increases as the vehicle approaches an obstruction:

*The rate at which the intermittent sound beeps increases as the vehicle approaches the obstruction.

NOTE:
  • If an obstruction in the same area (excluding close area) is detected for 6 seconds or longer, warning beeps stop activating; detection is still indicated.
  • If detection area changes to close, warning beeps resume; if changed to far, warning beeps remain off.
  • Sound volume for front and rear sensors can be adjusted via MZD Connect Owner's Manual settings.
When Warning Indicator/Beep is Activated

The system notifies the driver of abnormalities via beep and indicator light:

System malfunction / sensor malfunction message There may be a problem with the system. Have the vehicle inspected by an expert repairer (Authorised Mazda Repairer) as soon as possible.
Sensor dirty message Remove foreign matter from sensor area. If system does not recover, have vehicle inspected by an expert repairer (Authorised Mazda Repairer).
Obstruction detection indication continuously displayed Foreign matter may have affected the sensor. If system does not recover, have vehicle inspected by an expert repairer (Authorised Mazda Repairer).

Operating Tips
  • Operate air-conditioning with engine running.
  • Do not leave fan on with engine off for extended periods to prevent battery discharge.
  • Airflow may decrease slightly during i-stop function.
  • Clear leaves, snow, and ice from bonnet and air inlets for efficiency.
  • Use system to defog windows and dehumidify air.
  • Use recirculate mode in tunnels, traffic jams, or to quickly cool interior.
  • Use outside air for ventilation or windscreen defrosting.
  • Run air conditioner 10 minutes monthly to lubricate internal parts.
  • Have air conditioner checked before hot weather; use correct refrigerant.
Vent Operation

Direct airflow by moving adjustment knobs:

  • Driver's Side Vents: Knob to open/close and adjust airflow direction.
  • Passenger's Side Vents: Knob to open/close and adjust airflow direction.
  • Rear Vents*: Dial to open/close and knob to adjust airflow direction.

  • Note: Airflow amount varies depending on vent open/close status.
Manual Type Controls
  • A/C switch: Turns air conditioner on/off; indicator lights when on.
  • Temperature control dial: Clockwise = hot, anticlockwise = cold.
  • Fan control dial: Seven speeds.
  • Mode selector switches: Select airflow direction.
  • Air intake selector switch: Outside or recirculated air; use outside air for ventilation or defrosting.
  • Windscreen defroster switch: Press to defrost front windows.
  • Rear window defogger switch: Press to defrost rear window.
Heating, Cooling, and Ventilation
  • Heating: Set air intake to outside, temperature dial to hot, fan speed desired, A/C if dehumidified heating needed.
  • Cooling: Temperature dial to cold, fan speed desired, A/C on.
  • Ventilation: Air intake to outside, temperature and fan speed set as desired.
  • Windscreen defrosting: Set temperature to hot/warm, fan speed desired, A/C for dehumidification.
  • Dehumidifying: Air conditioner can dehumidify at any temperature setting; outside air selected.
WARNING: Avoid defogging windscreen with temperature set to cold; may cause outside fogging and impair vision.
NOTE: Fogging clears more easily with air conditioner on; use hot/floor air settings for comfort.
Fully Automatic Type
  • Displays air-conditioning system info on display.
  • Controls include passenger & driver temperature dials, SYNC, AUTO switch, A/C switch, fan control, airflow and mode displays.
  • AUTO switch automatically controls airflow, temperature, mode, air intake, A/C, seat warmer*, and heated steering wheel*.
