Engage reverse gear: An audible signal confirms the activation of the system by engaging reverse gear. The proximity information is indicated by an audible signal which becomes more rapid as the vehicle approaches the obstacle. When the distance between the rear of the vehicle and the obstacle is less than approximately 30 centimetres, the audible signal becomes continuous.
This completes the audible signal by the display of bars in the multifunction screen, which become closer as the vehicle approaches the obstacle. When very close to the obstacle, the "Danger" symbol is displayed. The audible (front and rear) and visual (rear) parking sensor system consists of proximity sensors installed in the rear bumper.
The sensors detect any obstacle which enters its field of operation (person, vehicle, tree, fence, etc.) behind the vehicle during the manoeuvre. Certain objects detected at the beginning of the manoeuvre may no longer be detected at the end due to blind spots between and below the sensors. Examples: stake, roadworks cone, or pavement post.
Advice: Change to neutral. In bad weather or in winter, ensure that the sensors are not covered with mud, ice, or snow. The system will be deactivated automatically if a trailer is being towed or if a bicycle carrier is fitted (vehicle fitted with a towbar or bicycle carrier recommended by PEUGEOT).
If the warning lamp comes on when reverse gear is engaged, accompanied by a message and/or audible signal, a fault has been detected. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or qualified workshop. The parking sensor system cannot in any circumstances replace the need for vigilance on the part of the driver.
The reversing camera function may be completed with parking sensors. The reversing camera cannot replace vigilance. Superimposed guide lines help with the manoeuvre, represented by lines "on the ground" and do not allow the vehicle position relative to tall obstacles to be determined. Some image deformation is normal.
High pressure jet washing: Do not direct the lance within 30 cm of the camera lens. The reversing camera is activated automatically when reverse gear is engaged, and the image is displayed on the touch screen. Blue lines represent the vehicle's general direction, red lines represent ~30 cm beyond the rear bumper, and green lines represent distances of about 1 and 2 metres beyond the rear bumper. Opening the tailgate hides the display. Clean regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
For entry into a parking space (parallel parking), the system may not detect spaces much smaller or larger than the vehicle. Activated automatically during manoeuvres, a symbol may come on in the screen with an audible signal without affecting the manoeuvre. Selection of the type of manoeuvre prevents STOP mode of Stop & Start; in STOP mode, selection restarts the engine. Park Assist cannot replace driver vigilance.
The driver remains in control of accelerator, brakes, gears, and clutch (manual gearbox). Changing tyre sizes or using winter tyres can interfere with correct operation. The system assists in entering and exiting a parking space, controlling steering and providing visual and audible information.
Without exceeding 5 mph (8 km/h), follow instructions from the parking assistance system until the end-of-manoeuvre message is displayed. Indicator lamp goes off, accompanied by an audible signal.
In bad weather or winter, ensure sensors are not covered with dirt, ice, or snow. If a fault occurs, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or qualified workshop. If deactivated during a manoeuvre, reactivate manually to repeat measurement. Lateral distance too great may prevent measurement. Anything projecting beyond the vehicle envelope is not detected. The system is deactivated automatically on ignition off.
