Eco-driving is a range of everyday practices that allow the motorist to optimise fuel consumption and COâ‚‚ emissions.
With a manual gearbox, move off gently and change up without waiting. During acceleration, change up early. With an automatic or electronic gearbox, prefer automatic mode and avoid pressing the accelerator heavily or suddenly. Follow the gear shift indicator immediately when displayed.
Maintain a safe distance, use engine braking rather than the brake pedal, and press the accelerator progressively. Use cruise control above 25 mph (40 km/h) when traffic is flowing. These practices reduce fuel consumption, COâ‚‚ emissions, and background traffic noise.
Ventilate the vehicle before using air conditioning. Close windows above 30 mph (50 km/h). Switch off air conditioning, demisting, heated seats, and lamps when not needed. Avoid running the engine before moving off in winter. Disconnect multimedia devices before leaving the vehicle.
Spread loads, keep heavy items low in the boot, reduce wind resistance (remove roof bars, racks, boxes), and check tyres seasonally. Follow service schedules. For BlueHDi Diesel engines, have SCR system faults checked immediately at a PEUGEOT dealer.
Never drive with the parking brake applied. Avoid running the engine near flammable materials. Never leave the vehicle unsupervised with the engine running. Always apply the parking brake and use the correct gear (neutral, N, or P).
After leaving flooded roads, apply light braking to dry discs and pads. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer if unsure.
Avoid attaching heavy objects to the key or remote control. The original key contains a coded electronic chip. Engine starts only if the code is detected. This prevents starting after break-in or theft.
Keep the label attached to the keys for replacement purposes. If a fault occurs, a warning lamp illuminates.
In some cases, you may have to apply slight pressure to unlock the steering wheel.
