Power Liftgate Notes

Note: Allow the power system to open the liftgate. Manually pushing or pulling it may activate obstacle detection, reverse operation, simulate a strut failure, or damage components.

Note: Be careful when opening or closing the liftgate in enclosed areas.

Note: Do not hang objects from the glass or liftgate.

Note: Do not leave the liftgate open while driving.

Switching the Power Liftgate On or Off

You can switch the power liftgate on or off through the vehicle settings touchscreen.

Note: When switched off, the liftgate only unlatches and does not power open or close.

Opening the Liftgate Using the Remote Control

  1. Press the liftgate button twice within three seconds.

Note: Avoid enclosed areas when operating.

Note: Do not hang objects from the liftgate.

Note: Do not drive with liftgate open.

Opening the Hands-Free Liftgate (If Equipped)

  1. Stand behind the vehicle with the passive key within 3 ft (1 m).
  2. Kick motion under bumper.
  3. Liftgate opens.
Avoid:
  • Touching bumper.
  • Holding foot underneath.
  • Sweeping motion.

Detection Zones

The detection area is on both sides of the rear bumper.

Note: Trailer hitch detection may be supported.

Note: False triggers may occur from water or chains.

Setting the Liftgate Opening Height

  1. Open liftgate.
  2. Stop at desired height.
  3. Hold control button until tone.
  4. Liftgate stores height.

Note: Cannot program too low.

Note: Battery disconnection does not erase memory.

Closing the Liftgate

From Inside Vehicle

Warning: Ensure people are clear before operation.

Press the instrument panel button.

From Outside Vehicle

Warning: Ensure people are clear before closing.

Press the liftgate button.

Using Remote Control

Warning: Keep people clear.

Press remote button twice.

Hands-Free Closing

  1. Stand behind vehicle.
  2. Kick motion.
  3. Liftgate closes.

Stopping Liftgate Movement

  • Liftgate button
  • Interior button
  • Remote control
  • Authorized device
  • Kick motion

Liftgate Obstacle Detection

Closing: Stops and reverses when obstruction detected.

Opening: Stops until obstacle removed.

Liftgate Window Operation

  1. Unlock window.
  2. Press button A and lift.
  3. Close firmly.

Note: Avoid enclosed areas.

Note: Do not hang objects.

Note: Do not drive with window open.

Liftgate Troubleshooting

Warning Lamp: Illuminates if lift
