Configuring the Trailer in the Touchscreen

  1. Press the button to switch the system on.
  2. Press Add Trailer on the touchscreen.
  3. Follow the directions to enter the trailer name, then proceed to the sticker setup. See Applying the Trailer Reversing Aid Sticker.

Applying the Trailer Reversing Aid Sticker

Place the sticker in an area visible by the rearview camera, 4–19 in (10–48 cm) from the center of the hitch ball.

  • Use the sticker placement card and tape measure to find the correct location in the green zone between the arcs.
  • Ensure nothing obstructs the camera view of the sticker.
  • Apply the sticker on a flat, dry, clean surface when temperatures are above 32°F (0°C).
  • Do not move or reuse stickers after placement.
  • Additional stickers can be purchased from an authorized dealer.

Calibrating the System

Calibration requires driving forward and turning left or right. Follow touchscreen instructions carefully.

  • Use a safe, open area (parking lot ideal).
  • Keep the steering wheel straight when instructed; calibration pauses if turned.
  • System supports trailer lengths 6–33 ft (1.85–10.05 m) from hitch to axle center.
  • Drawbars must have a license plate to hitch ball distance of 9–18 in (23–46 cm).
  • Calibration speed range: 2–9 mph (4–15 km/h).
  • Complete at least a 90° turn; longer trailers may require 180° turns.
  • Camera trailer tracking determines hitch location and trailer length; some trailers may require multiple straight and turn maneuvers.
  • Do not calibrate at night for best results.

Switching Trailer Backup Assistance On and Off

  1. Press the button and use the touchscreen to select the connected trailer.
  2. A trailer must be configured to use backup assistance.
  3. Using the steering wheel disables the system; a message will display.
  4. If trailer was just connected, drive forward to initialize the system.

Using the Trailer Backup Assistance Controller

Use the control knob to steer the trailer instead of the steering wheel.

  • Turn counterclockwise to go left.
  • Turn clockwise to go right.
  • Release the knob when the trailer moves in the desired direction.
  • More knob rotation = sharper turn.
  • Quickly turning and releasing may cause jerky movement.
  • Adjust knob as needed to correct trailer direction when moving straight back.
  • To turn sharper, adjust the trailer angle limit via touchscreen.

Using the Trailer Backup Assistance Views

Up to three camera views are available:

  • 360° camera view: 360° view on right side, rear view on left side of touchscreen.
  • Rear view camera: Shows trailer hitch or directly behind vehicle.
  • Trailer reverse guidance view: Shows sides of vehicle and trailer; auto mode follows trailer movement. Left/right arrows switch views.
  • Auto: Returns to default auto view.

Hitch Angle Graphic

  • Black line: trailer position relative to vehicle.
  • White line: trailer turn based on knob input.
  • Yellow zone: approaching max controllable angle; may require pulling forward.
