Identifying the Climate Control Unit
Depending on your vehicle options, the controls could look different than shown.
Switching Climate Control On and Off
Press the button on the climate control unit or the touchscreen to access additional controls for the climate system.
Switching Recirculated Air On and Off
Press the button to recirculate air currently in the passenger compartment.
Note: Recirculated air may turn off automatically or be unavailable in some airflow modes except MAX A/C to reduce fogging. It may also turn on/off automatically in various air distribution modes for heating/cooling efficiency.
Switching Air Conditioning On and Off
Press the button to turn air conditioning on or off.
Note: The compressor may continue to operate briefly after switching off. To maintain system functionality, switch AC on and let the vehicle idle at least once per month for 2 minutes.
Switching Defrost On and Off
Press the button to switch the windshield air vents on.
Switching Maximum Defrost On and Off
Press the button on the climate control unit or touchscreen to access maximum defrost. Air flows through the windshield vents at maximum blower speed. Can also defog/clear thin ice.
Note: Recirculated air cannot be used with maximum defrost. Heated rear window also turns on with maximum defrost.
Switching Maximum Cooling On and Off
Press the button. Note: Air conditioning remains on when maximum cooling is off.
Switching Heated Rear Window On and Off
Press the button to clear rear window of ice and fog. Heated mirrors also turn on. The system turns off automatically after a short period.
Note: Do not use harsh chemicals or sharp objects to clean the heated rear window. Engine must be running or vehicle ready to drive to use.
Setting the Blower Motor Speed
Turn the control to adjust the volume of air circulated in the vehicle.
Switching Heated Mirrors On and Off
Heated exterior mirrors turn on with the heated rear window.
Note: Do not remove ice from mirrors with a scraper or adjust mirror glass when frozen. Avoid harsh cleaning products.
Setting the Temperature
Press the toggle button on left or right-hand side of the climate control to set temperature. Turning off dual-zone mode will link left/right controls.
Directing the Flow of Air
Press the button on the climate control unit or touchscreen to access air flow controls:
- Windshield Air Vents

Auto Mode
Press the button to switch auto mode on. Repeatedly press to adjust settings.
Note: Blower motor lights do not indicate speed in auto mode. Adjust blower or air distribution to turn auto mode off.
Auto Mode Indicators
- One indicator: Reduced blower speed for minimal noise, longer cooling time.
- Two indicators: Moderate blower speed.
- Three indicators: Increased blower speed, faster cooling, more noise.
Switching Dual Mode On and Off
Press the button on the climate control unit or touchscreen to activate dual mode.
Climate Control Hints
General Hints:
- Prolonged use of recirculated air may cause window fog.
- Air may flow from footwell vents regardless of setting.
- Do not drive with system off or recirculated air always on to reduce humidity build-up.
- Do not place objects under front seats; may interfere with rear airflow.
- Clear snow, ice, leaves from air intake at base of windshield.
- To reach comfortable temperature faster, drive with windows open in hot weather.
Automatic Climate Control:
- No need to adjust when interior extremely hot/cold; auto mode maintains set temperature efficiently.
- System heats/cools to set temperature as quickly as possible.
- Instrument panel and side vents should be fully open.
- Pressing AUTO during cold: air directed to windshield and side vents; blower may run slower until engine warms.
- Pressing AUTO during hot: recirculated air used to maximize cooling; blower may run slower until air cools.
Quickly Heating the Interior
- Press AUTO.
- Adjust temperature to preference. Recommended starting point: 72°F (22°C).
Quickly Cooling the Interior
- Press MAX A/C.
- Drive with windows open briefly.
- Adjust temperature as needed. Recommended starting point: 72°F (22°C).
Defogging Side Windows in Cold Weather
- Press and release defrost or maximum defrost.
- Adjust temperature as desired. Recommended starting point: 72°F (22°C).
Identifying the Rear Passenger Climate Control Unit
Controls may vary depending on vehicle options. Press the touchscreen icon to access climate control features.
Switching Rear Passenger Climate Controls On and Off
Press button to switch rear climate on or off.
Note: If front Max Defrost is on, rear system turns off temporarily. Can be turned on simultaneously if Max Defrost active.
Setting the Blower Motor Speed (Rear)
Use touchscreen buttons to adjust air volume in rear passenger compartment.
Setting the Temperature (Rear)
Use touchscreen buttons to set temperature for rear passengers.
Directing the Flow of Air (Rear)
- Rear Console Air Vents: Press touchscreen button to direct airflow.
- Rear Footwell Air Vents: Press touchscreen button to direct airflow.
Note: Air can be directed through any combination of vents.

Note: Indicator illuminates briefly if rear controls are locked and system turned off while trying to use rear controls.
Cabin Air Filter
The cabin air filter improves air quality by trapping dust, pollen, and particles.
Replacing the Cabin Air Filter
Replace at regular intervals as per Scheduled Maintenance (page 529).
Note: Always have a filter installed to prevent foreign objects entering the system. Running without a filter may degrade or damage the system. Using aftermarket filters may reduce filtration and climate performance.
