Installing Child Restraints Using Seatbelts

  1. Position the child restraint in the seat.
  2. Pull down shoulder belt and lap belt together.
  3. Route belt through restraint without twisting.
  4. Buckle securely.
  5. Engage automatic locking mode.
  6. Remove slack while pressing down on seat.
  7. Attach tether strap if equipped.
  8. Verify secure installation (movement less than 1 inch).

Using Lower Anchors and Tethers (LATCH)

WARNING: Never attach two restraints to one anchor.
  • Two lower anchors in seat bight
  • One top tether anchor
  • Seatbelt may be used if anchors are unavailable

Installing a Child Restraint in Center Seat

WARNING: Only use anchors if spacing meets manufacturer requirements.

Check restraint movement — it should not exceed 1 inch.

Combining Seatbelt and Anchors

You may attach seatbelt or lower anchors first, then tether strap.

Using Tether Straps

  • Attach only to correct anchor point
  • Do not overtighten
  • Keep restraint snug against seat
