Seat Position and Height

Before installing a child restraint system, move the front passenger seat as far back as possible and adjust its height to the highest and best possible position for the belt to offer optimal protection in the event of an accident. If the upper anchorage of the safety belt is located in front of the belt guide of the child seat, move the front passenger seat carefully forward until the best possible belt guide position is reached.

Child Seat Security

The rear safety belts and the front passenger safety belt can be permanently locked to fasten child restraint systems.

Locking the Safety Belt
  1. Pull out the belt strap completely.
  2. Secure the child restraint system with the safety belt.
  3. Allow the belt strap to be pulled in and pull it tight against the child restraint system. The safety belt is locked.
Unlocking the Safety Belt
  1. Unbuckle the safety belt buckle.
  2. Remove the child restraint system.
  3. Allow the belt strap to be pulled in completely.
LATCH Child Restraint Fixing System

General Information: LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tether for Children. Follow manufacturer instructions when installing and using LATCH child restraint systems.

Mounts for the Lower LATCH Anchors

The lower anchors may be used to attach the CRS to the vehicle seat up to a combined child and CRS weight of 65 lb / 30 kg when the child is restrained by the internal harnesses.

WARNING: If the LATCH child restraint fixing systems are not correctly engaged, the protective effect is limited. Ensure lower anchors are securely engaged and the system fits securely against the backrest.
Position

The symbol indicates the mounts for the lower LATCH anchors. Seats equipped with lower anchors are marked with a pair of LATCH symbols. For vehicles with a middle seat, it is not recommended to use inner lower anchors of outer LATCH positions; use the vehicle safety belt instead.

Before Installing LATCH Systems

Pull the safety belt away from the child restraint area.

Assembly of LATCH Systems
  1. Install child restraint system per manufacturer instructions.
  2. Ensure both LATCH anchors are properly connected.
Child Restraint Systems with Tether Strap
WARNING: Incorrect use of the upper retaining strap reduces protective effect. Ensure strap is not twisted or guided across sharp edges.
WARNING: If rear backrest is not locked, protective effect of child restraint is limited. Rear backrests can fold forward during braking or accidents. Ensure backrests are locked.
NOTE: Anchors for upper retaining straps are only for child restraint systems. Do not mount other objects to these anchors to avoid damage.
Anchors

The symbol shows the anchor for the upper retaining strap. Seats with a top tether are marked with this symbol, located on the rear seat backrest or rear window shelf.
