This chapter describes standard, country-specific, and optional features offered with the series. Some features may not be available depending on options or country version. Safety-related functions and systems must always be used according to applicable laws.
Concept
The Central Information Display (CID) combines multiple functions, allowing them to be operated from a central location.
WARNING: Operating integrated information systems and communication devices while driving can distract you. Only use the systems when traffic conditions allow. If necessary, stop the vehicle before use.

Control Display General Information
Follow care instructions when cleaning the Control Display. High temperatures (e.g., from solar radiation) may reduce brightness or temporarily deactivate functions. Normal functions resume when temperature decreases.
NOTE: Objects in front of the Control Display can shift and cause damage. Avoid placing items in this area.
Switching On/Off
Switching On:
- Switch on the ignition.
- Press the Controller.
Switching Off:
- Press the button.
- Select "Turn off control display".
Controller Functions
With Navigation System
The Controller can be used to select menu items, enter settings, and operate the touchpad:

Operating Concept
Opening the Main Menu
Press the button to display the main menu. All CID functions can be accessed via the main menu.
Selecting Menu Items
- Turn the Controller to highlight the desired menu item.
- Press the Controller to select.
Menu items in the Owner's Manual are shown in quotation marks, e.g., "Settings".
Changing Between Displays
- Move Controller left: closes current display, shows previous display.
- Move Controller right: opens new display above previous screen.
Options Menu
- Press button to open "Options".
- Move Controller right repeatedly if necessary to display options.
- Select desired menu item or function (e.g., Screen settings, Control options).
Activating/Deactivating Functions
Menu items with checkboxes indicate activation status:
- Checked: Function activated
- Unchecked: Function deactivated
Touchpad Functions
- Settings → Touchpad → Select function
Functions include "Speller", "Interactive map", "Audio feedback".
Entering letters and numbers requires attention to case and special characters. Swipe left to delete, right in center for space, upper area for hyphen, lower area for underscore.
Interactive Map
- Swipe to move the map
- Drag in/out with fingers to zoom
- Tap once for display menu
Setting the Clock
- Press button to display main menu
- Turn Controller to highlight "Settings" → press
- Move Controller left if needed → highlight "Time/Date" → press
- Highlight "Time:" → press
- Turn Controller to set hours → press
- Turn Controller to set minutes → press
Status Information
The top-right status field displays:
- Time
- Current entertainment source
- Sound output on/off
- Cellular network signal strength
- Phone status
- Traffic bulletin reception
Status Symbols
Grouped as Radio, Telephone, Entertainment, and Additional Symbols. Examples:
- HD Radio, Satellite radio
- Incoming call, Missed call, Bluetooth, Roaming
- Music collection, AUX-IN, USB interface
- Spoken instructions off
Split Screen
Additional info can be displayed on the right side of the split screen. To switch on/off:
- Press button → "Split screen"
- Move Controller → select split screen content
- Select desired menu item
Programmable Memory Buttons
- Highlight function in CID → press and hold desired button until signal sounds
- To run the function, press the button (e.g., dial a stored phone number)
- Touch button to view key assignment; press buttons 1+6 for 5 seconds to delete assignments
Deleting Personal Data in the Vehicle
CID allows permanent deletion of stored personal data such as:
- Personal Profile settings
- Stored radio stations
