Climate Control
Vehicle Features and Options
This chapter describes all standard, country-specific, and optional features offered with the series. Some features may not be available in your vehicle due to selected options or country versions. Applicable laws and regulations must be observed when using these functions.
Interior Air Quality
Air quality is improved by an emissions-tested interior, a microfilter, and a climate-control system regulating temperature, air flow, and recirculated-air mode. Additional equipment may include:
- Microfilter/activated-charcoal filter
- Automatic climate control
- Parked-car ventilation
Air Conditioner Controls
- Air distribution settings
- Air flow
- Temperature
- Seat heating, right
- Air conditioning
- Recirculated-air mode
- Rear window defroster
- Windshield defroster
- Seat heating, left
Climate Control Functions in Detail
Switching the System On/Off
- On: Set any air flow
- Off: Turn air flow wheel all the way to the left
Temperature
The system heats or cools according to the set temperature. Turn the ring to set the desired temperature. Avoid rapid changes to allow the system to adjust properly.
Air Conditioning
Air is cooled and dehumidified, and can be warmed depending on temperature setting. Cooling requires engine running. Condensation water exits from below the vehicle.
- Switch on/off: press button; LED illuminates when on
Recirculated-Air Mode
Temporarily suspend outside air to avoid odors/pollutants. Press button repeatedly:
- LED off: outside air flows continuously
- LED on: recirculated air permanently blocked
Automatic deactivation occurs after a certain time to prevent window condensation. Constant recirculated mode may deteriorate air quality and increase window fogging.
Manual Air Flow Control
Turn the ring to adjust desired air flow. Higher air flow improves heating/cooling effectiveness. Air flow may reduce automatically to save battery power.
Manual Air Distribution
Turn the wheel to select desired program:
- Windows
- Upper body region
- Floor area
- Combination: windows, upper body, floor
Defrosting Windows and Removing Condensation
- Direct air distribution onto windows
- Increase air flow
- Increase temperature
- Switch on air conditioning if needed
Windshield and Rear Window Defrosters
- Windshield: press button, LED lights up, switches off automatically
- Rear window: press button, LED lights up, switches off automatically
- GREEN Mode reduces heater output
Microfilter / Activated-Charcoal Filter
Filters dust, pollen, and gaseous pollutants. Replace during vehicle maintenance.
Ventilation
- Direct: Air directed onto person, noticeable heating/cooling
- Indirect: Vents partly or fully closed, air routed into car interior
- Front ventilation: turn knob for continuous opening/closing, swivel to adjust direction
Parked-Car Ventilation
Ventilates interior and lowers temperature for 30 minutes. Controlled via Central Information Display (CID).
- Direct operation requires radio-ready state and sufficient battery
- Preset activation times also available via CID
- Open vents to allow airflow
Automatic Climate Control
Controls
- Temperature, left
- Display
- Air flow, AUTO intensity
- AUTO program
- Air distribution, manual
- Display
- Temperature, right
- Seat heating, right
- Maximum cooling
- Air conditioning
- Recirculated-air mode
- Rear window defroster
- Windshield defroster
- Defrosting windows and removing condensation
- Seat heating, left
Switching On/Off
- On: set any air flow
- Off: turn wheel for air flow all the way left
Maximum Cooling
Lowest temperature, maximum air flow, recirculated-air mode active. Requires engine running and vents open.
AUTO Program
Controls air flow, distribution, and temperature automatically. LED illuminates when on. Features activated automatically with AUTO:
Intensity can be adjusted via the ring; displayed by LED segments.
Manual Air Flow and Distribution (with AUTO off)
- Adjust air flow via ring, LED displays flow
- Select air distribution program with button
- Defrosting: press button; LED illuminates; works with air flow active
Interior Equipment
Vehicle Features and Options
Describes all standard, country-specific, and optional features. Observe laws and regulations.
Integrated Universal Remote Control
Located in interior mirror; can operate up to 3 remote-controlled systems (garage doors, barriers, lighting). Replaces up to 3 hand-held transmitters.
Warning: Body parts can be jammed during programming/operation. Ensure movement area is clear. Follow safety instructions of hand-held transmitters.
Compatibility
System compatible if symbol printed on packaging/manual. For questions, contact:
Overview
- LED
- Programmable keys
- Hand-held transmitters
Programming Steps
- Switch on ignition
- Press and hold outer buttons on interior mirror ~20s until LED flashes (erases previous programming)
- Hold hand-held transmitter 2.5–8 cm from interior mirror buttons
- Press and hold desired function on transmitter and mirror button until LED flashes faster
- Release buttons; LED flashing indicates successful programming
- Repeat steps 3–5 for other buttons
Rolling Code Wireless System
If system fails after programming, check if the controlled system uses a rolling code radio system.
