WARNING: An unsecured vehicle can begin to move and possibly roll away. Set the parking brake, turn front wheels toward the curb on slopes, and use a wheel chock if necessary.
Applying
The lever automatically engages after being pulled up. The indicator light lights up red to indicate that the parking brake is set.
Lower light: In Canadian models, for temporary use during driving, engage the parking brake slightly and hold the button down.
To prevent corrosion and one-sided brake action, lightly apply the parking brake periodically while coasting, if traffic conditions permit. Brake lights will not illuminate if the parking brake is set.
Releasing
Raise lever slightly, press the button, and guide the lever down.
Turn Signal, High Beams, Headlight Flasher
Turn Signal
Press the lever past the resistance point.
- Canada: lever returns to starting position automatically. To switch off manually, tap lever slightly to resistance point.
- Triple turn signal: Lightly tap lever up or down. Can be activated/deactivated via Central Information Display (CID) → Settings → Lighting → Triple turn signal. Setting stored in current driver profile.
- Signaling briefly: Press lever to resistance point and hold as long as signal is needed.
Malfunction: Rapid flashing indicates a turn signal bulb has failed.
High Beams / Headlight Flasher
Push lever forward or pull backward.

Washer / Wiper System
General Information
Do not use wipers on a dry windshield; it may damage blades or cause wear.
WARNING: Wipers starting in folded-away state can jam body parts or damage vehicle parts. Ensure vehicle is off and wipers folded in before switching on.
NOTE: Frozen wipers may tear off or overheat the motor. Defrost windshield before using wipers.
Switching On
- Position 0: resting position
- Position 1: intermittent / rain sensor
- Position 2: normal speed
- Position 3: fast speed
When travel resumes, wipers continue at previous speed.
Switching Off and Brief Wipe
Press lever down. Lever returns to initial position when released. Brief wipe: press lever down from standard position.
Interval Mode / Rain Sensor
Concept: Automatically adjusts wiper timing to rainfall intensity. Sensor located on windshield in front of interior mirror.
NOTE: Rain sensor may start wipers in vehicle washes. Deactivate sensor in washes.
Activating: Press lever up once. LED on lever illuminates if equipped.
Deactivating: Press lever back to standard position.
Set frequency/sensitivity with thumbwheel: Up = short interval / high sensitivity, Down = long interval / low sensitivity.
Windshield Washer System
WARNING: Washer fluid can freeze and obstruct view. Use only if fluid cannot freeze; use antifreeze if needed.
NOTE: Washer pump cannot work if reservoir empty; do not use system when empty.
Cleaning the Windshield: Pull lever to spray fluid and activate wipers briefly. Washer nozzles are heated automatically when ignition is on.
Rear Window Wiper
- Switch on: turn outer switch upward. Position 0 = resting, arrow 1 = intermittent (switches to continuous in reverse gear).
- Clean rear window: turn outer switch; resting position returns automatically when released. Intermittent mode also returns automatically.
Fold-Away Position of the Wipers
Useful when changing blades or under frosty conditions.
WARNING: Wipers moving in folded-away state can jam body parts or damage vehicle. Ensure vehicle off and wipers folded in before switching on.
NOTE: Frozen wipers may tear off or overheat motor. Defrost windshield before use.
- Switch ignition on and off again.
- Press and hold wiper lever down until wipers stop near vertical.
- Fold wipers completely away from windshield.
To fold down: fold wipers back onto windshield, switch ignition on, push lever down. Wipers return to resting position.
Canada: Wiper System
Do not use wipers on a dry windshield. Ensure folded-in state before switching on.
Switching on: Tap up lever or press past resistance. Normal speed = tap once, fast speed = tap twice / beyond resistance. Lever returns automatically.
Switching off / Brief Wipe: Press lever down. Fast speed: press down twice. Normal speed: press down once. Brief wipe: press down once. Lever returns automatically.
