Mini Cooper

Gear Shift Indicator

Concept: The system recommends the most fuel-efficient gear for the current driving situation.

General Information

Depending on the vehicle's features and country-specific version, the gear shift indicator is active in:

  • Manual mode of the Steptronic transmission
  • Manual transmission

Suggestions to shift gear up or down are displayed in the instrument cluster.

Speed Limit Info

Concept: Speed Limit Info shows the current maximum permitted speed in the instrument cluster.

General Information

The camera at the base of the interior mirror detects traffic signs and variable overhead sign posts. Signs with extra symbols for conditions (wet road, etc.) are also detected and compared with onboard data (e.g., rain sensor) and displayed accordingly. With navigation, speed limits on routes without signs are also displayed. Without navigation, the system has technological limitations and may only detect some signs.

WARNING: The system does not relieve personal responsibility to assess visibility and traffic conditions. There is a risk of an accident. Adjust driving style accordingly and actively monitor traffic.

Overview

  • Camera: Installed near the interior mirror. Keep windshield clean in this area.
  • Display: Shown via Onboard Computer. Use the turn signal lever button to scroll if needed. Also available on Head-up Display.

System Limits

The system may provide incorrect info in these situations:

  • Heavy fog, wet conditions, or snowfall
  • Signs obscured or partially covered
  • Driving very close to the vehicle in front
  • Bright lights or reflections
  • Windshield fogged, dirty, or with stickers
  • Incorrect detection by camera
  • Incorrect navigation data
  • Areas not covered by navigation
  • Road changes compared to navigation data
  • Buses/trucks with speed stickers
  • Non-conforming traffic signs
  • Calibration immediately after vehicle delivery
  • Signs valid for parallel road detected
