WINDSCREEN WIPER PRECAUTIONS
- Make sure the device is turned off whenever the windscreen glass must be cleaned.
- Important: Never use the screen wiper to remove layers of snow or ice from the windscreen. Excessive stress may trigger the motor cut-out switch. If operation is not restored, contact an Alfa Romeo Dealership.
- Do not operate the screen wiper with blades lifted from the windscreen.
- Do not activate the rain sensor in an automatic car wash.
- Make sure the device is switched off if there is ice on the windscreen glass.
CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM
Passenger Compartment Air Vents
Side Air Vents:
- (1) Fixed side air vents
- (2) Adjustable side air vents – turn the ring to adjust direction and air flow.
Central Air Vents:
- (1) Adjustable central vents – use device (2) to adjust direction.
- Ring (3) adjusts air flow.
- (4) Screen air vent
Rear Air Vents:
- (1) Adjustable rear vents – use ring (2) to adjust direction and air flow.
Climate Control Components
- Driver and passenger temperature adjustment knobs
- Left and right side AUTO function buttons (automatic operation)
- Air distribution selection buttons
- MAX-DEF function button (rapid defrosting/demisting)
- Fan speed adjustment knob
- Heated rear window button
- SYNC function button (align temperature)
- Seat heater buttons (where provided)
- Internal air recirculation button
- Climate control compressor on/off button
- Steering wheel heater button (where provided)
System Description
The dual-zone climate control regulates temperature and air distribution independently for driver and passenger. It maintains comfort inside the vehicle and compensates for outside weather changes. Reference temperature: 71.6°F (22°C).
Automatically Controlled Functions:
- Driver/passenger side air temperature
- Air distribution to side vents
- Fan speed
- Compressor engagement
- Air recirculation
Manual selections override automatic settings until AUTO is pressed. Some functions do not deactivate AUTO:
- Recirculation activation/deactivation
- Compressor activation/deactivation
- SYNC function
- Heated rear window activation/deactivation
Air Temperature Adjustment
Turn knobs to adjust driver (1) and passenger (9) temperatures. Press SYNC to align temperatures, or turn knob 9 to restore separate control. Full right/left = HI/LO temperature extremes.
Air Distribution
Press buttons (3, 7) to choose one of 7 modes:
- Windscreen and front side vents – demist/defrost
- Central and side dashboard vents – ventilate face/chest
- Front and rear footwell vents – rapid heating
- Footwell + dashboard vents – moderate heating
- Footwell + windscreen vents – warm efficiently, prevent misting
- Windscreen + dashboard vents – strong sunlight adjustment
- All vents active
Fan Speed Adjustment
Turn knob 5 to adjust fan speed. Maximum = all LEDs lit; Minimum = one LED lit. Position O = fan off. Press AUTO to restore automatic control.
AUTO Button
Pressing AUTO automatically adjusts:
- Air quantity and distribution
- Compressor
- Air recirculation
- Cancels manual overrides
MAX-DEF Function
Press MAX to rapidly demist windscreen and side windows. The system:
- Activates compressor if conditions allow
- Sets air recirculation off
- Sets maximum temperature (HI)
- Adjusts fan speed according to coolant
- Directs air to windscreen and side vents
- Activates heated rear window
Function lasts ~3 minutes. Only fan speed and heated rear window can be adjusted manually.
Heated Rear Window
Press button to activate defrosting of heated rear window, door mirrors, and washer nozzles. Function turns off automatically after ~20 minutes or engine off.
Warning: Do not apply stickers over heating filaments.
Humidity Sensor
Prevents window misting. AUTO must be active to enable. System may disable recirculation at low outside temperatures.
Switching Climate Control Off/On
Off: Rotate knob 5 counter-clockwise. Air recirculation remains on, compressor off, fan off, heated rear window operable. System stores previous temperatures.
On: Press AUTO for fully automatic operation.
START&STOP EVO
Dual-zone climate control manages Start&Stop Evo to maintain comfort:
- Turns off Start&Stop if AUTO mode and inside temperature is far from comfort, LO cooling, or MAX-DEF active.
- Requests engine restart if inside temperature deteriorates.
- Reduces airflow to maintain comfort while engine off.
Additional Heater (where provided)
Activates automatically depending on outside temperature and engine running. Only operates if battery voltage sufficient.
System Maintenance
In winter, turn system on at least once a month for ~10 minutes. Inspect system before summer at an Alfa Romeo Dealership.
Gas Identification Label (where provided)
Label uses R1234yf coolant gas. Do not use R134a or R12 fluids.
