On curves Fig. 183 with the device set, it could limit speed and acceleration to guarantee car stability even if no cars are detected ahead. When leaving the curve, the device resets the previously set speed.
Warning: In case of narrow curves, device performance could be limited. Deactivate the device if necessary. The device only limits speed during a bend, not before it. Always take care.
On roads with variable gradient, the device may not detect vehicles in the lane. Performance may be limited according to speed, load, traffic, and steepness of gradient.
The device may not detect vehicles until fully in your lane Fig. 184. Always maintain sufficient distance and be ready to brake.
Narrow vehicles (e.g., bicycles, motorcycles Fig. 185) entering the lane from the kerbside may not be detected until fully in the lane. Maintain safe distance in such cases.
The device can detect stationary vehicles from 2.5 to 40 mph (4 to 60 km/h). Objects or vehicles moving in opposite/crosswise direction Fig. 186 are not detected.
Warning: Always be ready to brake. The system is a driving aid; responsibility rests with the driver. Maintain safe distance at all times. The device does not activate for pedestrians, oncoming vehicles, or stationary objects. It cannot account for road, traffic, or weather conditions, or poor visibility.
The device cannot apply maximum braking force; car may not stop completely. Unexpected acceleration or deceleration may occur. Overtaking assist activates only in correct traffic-side conditions. Device predicts insufficient braking with “BRAKE!” alert and acoustic warning. Driver must ensure no obstacles ahead.
Assists driving on motorways up to 90 mph (145 km/h) when horizontal lane signs are detected. Combines ACC and lane centering to maintain trajectory and speed. Dedicated screen appears on instrument panel.
System works only if driver keeps hands on steering wheel. Alerts if hands removed; steering wheel vibrates if vehicle crosses lane marking.
Warning: HAS may take seconds to activate. Grey indication appears until fully active.
Press button on left side of steering wheel Fig. 187 to activate/deactivate.
HAS is suspended temporarily if:
Symbol on display turns red then grey when paused. Hands detected by capacitive sensor. HAS reactivates automatically when suspension condition ends.
