Vehicle Security Alarm — Operation

The security indicator will flash slowly until the vehicle is disarmed.

Rearming the System

If the alarm is triggered and no action is taken to disarm it, the beeper will stop after 29 seconds and the visual signals will stop after an additional 31 seconds. The system will then automatically rearm itself.

Arming the System

Follow these steps to arm the vehicle security alarm:

  • Ensure the ignition switch is OFF.
  • Lock the vehicle using one of the following methods:
    • Press the interior door lock switch with a door open.
    • Use the Passive Entry exterior door handle with a valid key fob nearby.
    • Press the lock button on the key fob.
  • Close any open doors.

Open windows will remain open. If the power liftgate is open, it must be closed before the alarm can be armed.

Buttons located on the trunk lining can fully close and lock the liftgate while arming the alarm, provided all doors are closed.

Each time the system is armed, anti-intrusion and anti-lift sensors activate. These sensors can be disabled by pressing the key fob button three times within five seconds while the indicator flashes rapidly.

Disarming the System

Use one of the following methods:

  • Press the unlock button on the key fob.
  • Use the Passive Entry unlock handle.
  • Press the START/STOP button to exit OFF mode.
NOTE:
  • Interior lock switches cannot unlock doors while the alarm is armed.
  • The emergency key cannot arm or disarm the system.
  • Accessing the liftgate does not disarm the alarm; opening a door will trigger it.

Remaining inside the vehicle during arming and opening a door will activate the alarm. If the battery is disconnected while armed, the system will reactivate when power returns.

Using the Panic Alarm (If Equipped)

Press and hold the panic button for at least one second. Headlights illuminate, lights flash, the horn pulses, and interior lights turn on.

The alarm runs for up to three minutes unless stopped by:

  • Pressing the panic button again, or
  • Driving faster than 5 mph (8 km/h).

Tamper Alert

If the alarm was triggered while you were away, the horn will sound three times upon disarming. Inspect the vehicle for tampering.

Illuminated Entry / Exit

When unlocking via key fob or Passive Entry, courtesy lighting, dimmable interior lights, seat lighting, and approach lighting remain on for approximately 27 seconds.
