Maserati Levante

Hood Operation

Opening

Two latches must be released to open the hood.

  • From inside the vehicle, pull the hood release lever located under the left lower side of the dashboard.
  • Move outside and stand in front of the grille.
  • Slightly lift the hood and push the safety catch located in the center.
  • Lift the hood completely. Gas struts keep it open.

With the ignition in RUN, a red symbol and message indicate the hood is open.

Closing

Lower the hood, then gently drop it to secure both latches.

CAUTION: Do not slam the hood to close it.
WARNING:
  • Ensure the hood is fully latched before driving.
  • Gear shifting remains active even when hood or doors are open — avoid accidental gear engagement.

Occupant Restraint Systems

Your vehicle includes the following safety systems:

  • Three-point seat belts for all occupants
  • Advanced front air bags
  • Side air bag curtains (SABIC)
  • Seat-mounted side air bags
  • Energy-absorbing steering column
  • Seat belt pretensioners
  • Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR)

These systems help protect occupants during collisions. Always use them properly.

WARNING:
  • Keep seatbacks upright and belts snug.
  • Children under 12 should ride in rear seats.
  • Never place rear-facing child seats in the front seat.
  • All occupants must wear seat belts.

Three-Point Seat Belts

All seating positions use lap and shoulder belts designed to lock during sudden stops or impacts.

Proper Use
  • Sit upright and adjust the seat.
  • Pull belt across your body.
  • Insert latch plate into buckle until it clicks.
  • Ensure lap belt rests on pelvis, not abdomen.
  • Shoulder belt should cross chest — not neck.
WARNING:
  • Never share a belt between two people.
  • Do not wear belt under the arm.
  • A loose or twisted belt is dangerous.
  • Replace damaged belts immediately.
Release

Press the red buckle button. Guide belt during retraction to prevent twisting.

Seat Belt Height Adjustment

Adjust the shoulder belt height while stationary:

  • Press slider release.
  • Move belt guide to proper shoulder height.
  • Ensure slider locks securely.
CAUTION: Adjustment must be done only when the vehicle is stationary.

Seat Belt Untwisting Procedure

  • Position latch plate near anchor point.
  • Twist belt 180° above latch.
  • Slide latch plate over folded belt.
  • Continue until belt straightens.

Passenger Seat Belts (ALR)

Passenger belts include Automatic Locking Retractors for securing child seats.

  • Pull belt fully to activate ALR.
  • Allow belt to retract snugly.
  • Listen for ratcheting sound.
WARNING:
  • Rear passengers must wear seat belts.
  • Seat belts reduce injury risk even with airbags.
  • Unbelted occupants endanger others.

Inspect belts regularly. Replace damaged components through authorized service.
