For more information about weights and towed loads, refer to chapter 9, "Weights" section.
Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest objects are as close as possible to the axle and the nose weight is close to the maximum authorised without exceeding it.
Towing on a slope increases coolant temperature. As the fan is electrically controlled, cooling capacity is independent of engine speed. Use a high gear to lower engine speed and reduce your speed. Always monitor coolant temperature. A towed vehicle must free wheel: gearbox in neutral.
In arduous conditions (towing maximum load up a steep slope in high temperatures), the engine may automatically limit power and cut off air conditioning to save engine power.
Check tyre pressures of both the towing vehicle and trailer, following recommended pressures. Refer to Chapter 7, "Levels" section.
Towing increases braking distance. Drive moderately, change down early, and brake gradually.
Use genuine CITROËN towbars and harnesses. Fitting should be done by a CITROËN dealer. Improper fitting may affect vehicle electronics. Follow manufacturer instructions.
Sensitivity to side wind is increased. Drive smoothly and at moderate speed.
These systems control the vehicle but not the trailer or caravan.
The rear parking sensor system does not function while towing.
This swan neck towbar is delivered assembled and can be removed and fitted easily without tools.
Never unlock the device when a trailer or load carrier is attached.
Remove the swan neck and insert the blanking plug if no trailer or load carrier is fitted. This prevents obstruction of number plate or lighting.
Regardless of the equipment offered (hands-free kits, CD changer, satellite navigation, USB, video kits), compatibility with vehicle systems must be checked. Contact a CITROËN dealer before fitting.
