Citroen Berlingo

Air Conditioning and Ventilation

Air Flow & Distribution

The air is directed through the side vents and the central vents:

  • To the footwells
  • To the windscreen and footwells
  • To the windscreen

The air distribution can be modulated by placing the control in intermediate positions marked "●".

Temperature Control

The air supply distribution is determined by the following symbols:

  • Red zone: provides heating of the passenger compartment
  • Blue zone: provides ambient air

The fan speed varies from 1 to 4, with 0 switching it off. Adjust this control to reach the desired comfort level.

Ventilation Modes
  • Ventilation: normal airflow
  • Intake of exterior air
  • Recirculation of interior air
  • Air Conditioning (A/C): press button to activate, LED lights up; press again to deactivate

The air conditioning operates only with the engine running. Recirculation prevents exterior odors and smoke from entering and should be temporary for optimum comfort.

Driver & Passenger Comfort Value

The value displayed on the screen represents comfort, not temperature. Adjust left or right to decrease or increase comfort level. A value around 21 is optimal. Avoid covering the sunshine sensor. Settings are stored when the ignition is switched off and reinstated at next start. Manual adjustment clears AUTO function.

Good Practice
  • For maximum cooling or heating, settings can exceed 15 (LO) or 27 (HI).
  • Do not adjust displayed value to reach comfort faster; system adjusts automatically.
Digital Air Conditioning
Automatic Operation (AUTO Comfort Programme)

Press the AUTO button to enable automatic air distribution, flow, and intake based on selected comfort value. No further action is required.

Manual Operation

You can adjust settings independently. Press AUTO to restore fully automatic operation.

Air Distribution Control

Press repeatedly to direct airflow to:

  • Windscreen
  • Windscreen and footwells
  • Footwells
  • Side vents, central vents, and footwells
  • Side vents and central vents
Air Flow Control

Use small fan button to reduce flow or large fan button to increase. Display shows fan blades filling when increased.

Switching A/C On/Off

Press A/C button to activate. Deactivate by pressing small fan until symbol disappears. Air recirculation and rear screen demisting remain active.

Air Intake & Recirculation

Recirculation prevents external odors and smoke. Avoid prolonged use to prevent condensation. Press again for exterior air intake or to switch off A/C.

Manual Mode
  • Turn control to desired temperature
  • Increase air flow
  • Press A/C button
  • Return to exterior air intake (LED off) for renewal of air
Demisting Rear Screen / Mirrors

Press button with engine running to defrost rear screen and/or electric mirrors. Function stops when button is pressed, engine switched off, or automatically to prevent energy waste.

Good Practice for Vents

Leave vents open for optimal hot/cold air distribution. Side and central vents can be adjusted horizontally or vertically. Footwell and windscreen vents enhance comfort. Do not block windscreen vents or boot air extractor.

Filters

Activated carbon dust and odor filters trap dust and limit odors. Maintain regularly; see chapter 7 "Checks".

Air Conditioning Usage
  • Use with windows closed in all seasons
  • Ventilate compartment briefly if interior is very hot
  • Prefer AUTO mode for optimized control of airflow, comfort temperature,
