Depending on the country in which the vehicle is sold or operated, it is compulsory to have equipment such as a high visibility safety vest, warning triangle, replacement bulbs, fuses, and breathalyzers available in the vehicle.
Secure the stay in its location, identified by a sticker on the right-hand side of the vehicle, to hold the bonnet open. Before closing the bonnet, put the stay back in its clip without using excessive force.
Raise the bonnet slightly by reaching in a flat hand, palm down, to make access to the lever easier. With this hand, push the safety catch to the left. Raise the bonnet.
Pull the lever below the dashboard towards you. The bonnet is released.
Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel. Check that the bonnet is secure. Avoid opening the bonnet in strong winds.

This must be carried out at the intervals specified in the manufacturer's servicing schedule. Remove the dipstick before filling and check the level after filling (never exceed the max mark). Refit the oil filler cap before closing the bonnet.
Brake fluid must be changed at the intervals stated according to the manufacturer's servicing schedule. Use DOT4 standard fluids. Level must be between MIN and MAX marks. Frequent topping up indicates a fault and must be checked by a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.
Handle the engine cover carefully to avoid damaging fixing clips.
Check every 3,000 miles (5,000 km) and top up if necessary. Check with engine cold and vehicle level using the dipstick.
Use oil meeting manufacturer service schedule requirements. Avoid additives which may affect engine reliability and emission control.
Only use manufacturer-recommended fluid. Wait at least one hour after engine stops before working. Slacken cap ¼ turn to release pressure before topping up. Frequent topping up indicates a fault to be checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Park on level ground with engine cold. Unscrew cap integrated with gauge and check fluid between MIN and MAX marks. Regenerate filter by driving above 40 mph (60 km/h) for at least 5 minutes. If service warning remains, contact a dealer.
Ensure fluid levels are between MIN and MAX marks on expansion bottle. If more than 1 litre required, have system checked by a dealer or workshop.
Use CITROËN products. Capacity: 3 litres (screenwash), 6 litres if headlamp washers fitted. Avoid plain water to prevent freezing.
Top up only at a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop. Minimum level indicated by service warning lamp with audible signal and screen message. Saturation occurs under prolonged urban driving.
