Seat Belts
Height Adjustment
Squeeze the control with the return and slide the assembly on the driver's seat side and on the individual passenger seat side.
Fastening
Pull the strap, then insert the tongue into the buckle. Check that the seat belt is fastened correctly by pulling the strap.
Seat Belt(s) Not Fastened Warning Lamp
When the vehicle is started, this warning lamp comes on if a front passenger has not fastened their seat belt.
Unfastening
Press the red button.
Good Practice
- The driver must ensure that passengers use the seat belts correctly and are all strapped in securely before moving off.
- The height of the seat belt for the centre seat of the front bench cannot be adjusted.
- Always fasten your seat belt, even for short journeys.
- The seat belts have an inertia reel that automatically adjusts the length to your size.
- Do not use accessories (clothes pegs, clips, safety pins, etc.) which allow the seat belt strap to fit loosely.
- Ensure that the seat belt has reeled in correctly after use.
- After folding or moving a seat or rear bench, ensure the seat belt has reeled in and the buckle is ready to accommodate the tongue.
Pretensioners and Force Limiters
Depending on the nature and seriousness of an impact, the pretensioning device may deploy before and independently of airbag inflation. It tightens the seat belts instantly against the occupants. Deployment produces harmless smoke and noise due to the pyrotechnic cartridge activation. The force limiter reduces the pressure of the belt against the body. Pretensioners are active when the ignition is on.
Inertia Reels
The inertia reels automatically lock the strap during a collision, emergency braking, or if the vehicle rolls over. You can unfasten the seat belt by pressing the red button on the buckle. Guide the seat belt after unfastening. The airbag warning lamp lights up if pretensioners deploy. Contact a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop if this occurs.
Recommendations for Children
- Use a suitable child seat if the passenger is less than 12 years old or shorter than 1.5 m.
- Never allow a child to travel on your lap, even with the seat belt fastened.
- For more information, refer to the "Children on board" section of chapter 5.
Maintenance
- Clean seat belt straps with soapy water or a textile cleaning product sold by CITROËN dealers.
- Seat belts should be checked regularly by a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop, even after minor impacts. Ensure they are not worn, cut, frayed, converted, or modified.
