How to activate the system: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF)*

You can read about handling information for the camera equipped with this system. Refer to Front Sensor Camera P. 526.

When the MAIN button is pressed, both ACC with LSF and the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) are either turned on or off. ACC with LSF may not work properly under certain conditions. Refer to ACC with LSF Conditions and Limitations P. 489.

When not using ACC with LSF

Turn off adaptive cruise by pressing the MAIN button. This also turns off the LKAS. Do not use ACC with LSF under the following conditions:

  • Heavy traffic or continuous stop-and-go traffic
  • Roads with sharp turns
  • Steep downhill sections where coasting may exceed set speed
  • Roads with toll facilities, parking areas, or drive-through access

How to use ACC with LSF

  • Press the MAIN button on the steering wheel. ACC (green) indicator is on in the instrument panel. ACC with LSF is ready to use.
  • Driving at about 25 mph (40 km/h) or above: Release the pedal and press –/SET at desired speed. The speed is fixed once released, and ACC with LSF begins.
  • Driving slower than 25 mph (40 km/h): Pressing –/SET fixes speed to ~25 mph (40 km/h) if moving. If stationary, speed can be set even with brake pedal depressed.
  • When operating, the vehicle icon, interval bars, and set speed appear on the driver information interface.
  • Straight Driving Assist is activated to help keep the vehicle in a straight line.

To Set the Vehicle Speed

Press and release the –/SET button when ACC with LSF begins. You can switch the displayed speed measurements between mph and km/h.

Vehicle Ahead Detected

ACC with LSF monitors vehicles ahead. It maintains or decelerates your set speed to keep the set following-interval.

  • If the vehicle ahead slows abruptly or another cuts in, a beeper sounds and a message appears. Depress the brake and maintain interval.
  • If no vehicle is ahead, ACC with LSF maintains the set speed without touching the pedals. It accelerates back to set speed if previously blocked.
  • Depressing the accelerator temporarily increases speed; system resumes proper interval once released.
  • Even if interval is short, ACC may accelerate when:
    • The vehicle ahead moves at similar or faster speed
    • A cutting-in vehicle increases interval gradually

Vehicle Stops Ahead

If a vehicle detected ahead stops, your vehicle stops automatically. "Stopped" message appears on the interface. When the vehicle ahead moves, the icon blinks; pressing RES/+ or –/SET or using the accelerator resumes ACC within prior set speed. If no vehicle ahead, depress accelerator to resume prior speed.

WARNING: Exiting a vehicle that has been stopped by ACC with LSF can result in the vehicle moving without control, causing serious injury or death. Never exit a vehicle while stopped by ACC with LSF.
