Tire Changing

Before changing a flat tire, see “Hands-Free Operation” under Liftgate.

Removing the Spare Tire and Tools

The equipment needed to change a flat tire is stored in the rear of the vehicle. The jacking tools are under the load floor, secured with velcro straps. The jack is behind a door in the trim panel on the driver side.

  1. Pull to open the trim panel door. The third row driver side seat may need to be folded to access the trim panel door.
  2. Turn the jack knob counterclockwise to release the jack and wheel blocks from the bracket. If equipped, remove the wheel blocks from the jack and place them on both sides of the tire at the opposite corner. See If a Tire Goes Flat for placement instructions.
  3. Place the jack and wheel blocks near the tire being changed.
  4. Lift the load floor. Remove the jacking tools and place them near the tire being changed. Tools include:
    • Jack
    • Wheel Blocks
    • Jack Handle
    • Jack Handle Extensions
    • Wheel Wrench

Accessing the Spare Tire

  1. Open the hoist shaft access cover on the bumper to access the spare tire lock.
  2. Remove the spare tire lock using the mechanical key.
  3. Assemble the jack handle extensions and wheel wrench. Insert the extension through the hoist shaft access hole and connect it to the hoist shaft.
  4. Turn the wheel wrench counterclockwise to lower the spare tire to the ground. Pull the spare tire out from under the vehicle.
  5. Tilt the tire toward the vehicle to access the tire/wheel retainer. Tilt the retainer and pull it with the cable and spring through the center of the wheel.
  6. Place the spare tire near the flat tire.

Removing the Flat Tire and Installing the Spare Tire
