Driver Mode Control

Driver Mode Control (DMC) allows the driver to adjust the overall driving experience to better suit preference by adjusting multiple subsystems simultaneously. Drive mode availability and affected vehicle subsystems depend upon vehicle trim level, region, and optional features.

Tour will be the default mode at every ignition cycle. A unique and persistent indicator will be displayed in the instrument cluster for each mode. Depending on trim level, Tour mode, Sport mode, Snow/Ice mode, Off-Road mode, Tow/Haul mode, Terrain mode, and My mode may be available.

To activate each mode, press the MODE button on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. To activate Terrain Mode, press the Terrain button located next to the MODE button.

Tour Mode

Use this mode for normal city and highway driving to provide a smooth ride. This setting provides balance between comfort and handling. This is the standard/default mode. There is no persistent indicator in the instrument cluster for this mode.

Sport Mode

Use this mode where road conditions or personal preference demand a more controlled response. When in Sport mode, the vehicle automatically downshifts and monitors driving behaviors, enabling Performance Shift Features during spirited driving. Steering becomes more precise and, if equipped, Magnetic Ride Control adjusts suspension for better cornering.

Snow/Ice Mode

Use this mode to improve vehicle acceleration on snow and ice covered roads. It adjusts acceleration to optimize traction but may compromise acceleration on dry asphalt. Not intended for use when stuck in sand, mud, ice, snow, or gravel. See If the Vehicle Is Stuck.

Off-Road Mode

Use for off-road recreational driving on grass, gravel, dirt, unpaved roads, or snow-covered roads. Pedal mapping, ride height, and TCS performance are adjusted if equipped. See Off-Road Driving for details.

Tow/Haul Mode

Use when hauling heavy loads for increased performance and vehicle control. Adjusts transmission shift pattern, steering, and ESC performance. Trailer sway control is activated, and exhaust braking is engaged if equipped with a diesel engine. Tow/Haul mode remains active for up to four hours after turning off the vehicle. See Towing Equipment for trailer weight specifications.

Terrain Mode

Use on very rough roads at very low speeds, such as two-track or heavily rutted roads, or when pulling a boat out of the water. Holds lower gears longer, modifies accelerator mapping, transmission shift pattern, ride height, and eSLD. Active Braking during lift throttle applies light braking to simulate 4WD low engine braking. Automatically exits to Tour mode if brake temperatures are too high, EPB becomes inoperable, or braking/vehicle hold fails. See Off-Road Driving and Hill and Mountain Roads for details.

My Mode

Personalize everyday driving by configuring vehicle system settings to your preferences. My mode remains active every time the vehicle is started. Customize via the infotainment screen: Vehicle Settings > Drive Mode Customization.

Drive Mode Customization

Settings retained over each key cycle:

  • Engine Sound: Adjusts volume of engine noise.
  • Steering: Adjusts effort required to turn the steering wheel.
  • Suspension: Adjusts stiffness of shocks/springs for comfort or control.
  • Visualization: Shows handling/performance settings on the infotainment display when changing drive modes.

Magnetic Ride Control

Semi-active damping system that improves ride and handling under various passenger and loading conditions.

Locking Rear Axle

Provides more traction on snow, mud, ice, sand, or gravel. Functions like a standard axle most of the time but allows the rear wheel with most traction to move the vehicle when needed.

Four Corner Air Suspension System

Provides full-time load leveling and ride height adjustment for convenience and capability.
