  • Turn signals

    • Switching the turn signals on and off
      • Fig. 72: On the left side of the steering column: turn signal and high beam lever.
      • Right turn signal
      • Left turn signal
      • Steps:
        1. Switch the ignition on.
        2. Move the lever from the center position to the preferred position.
        3. To cancel, move the lever back to its basic position.
      • If no chime sounds when the turn signal is on, contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer.
    • 3-blink turn signal
      • Move the lever to the pressure point and release. The signal blinks three times.
      • To stop early, move the lever to the pressure point in the opposite direction and release.
      • The 3-blink function can be switched on/off in the Light & visibility menu.
    • WARNING
      • Using turn signals incorrectly or forgetting to turn them off can mislead other road users.
      • Always activate the turn signals correctly when changing lanes, passing, or turning.
      • Switch off the turn signal after finishing the maneuver.
      • The emergency flashers work even when the ignition is off.
  • Headlights

    • Switching the lights on and off

      • Switching the lights on:
        1. Switch the ignition on.
        2. Turn the light switch to the desired position:
        3. Daytime running light switches on.
        4. Automatic headlights switch on/off depending on conditions.
        5. Parking light switches on (green symbol lights up).
        6. Low beam headlights switch on.
      • Switching the lights off:
        1. Switch the ignition off.
        2. Turn the light switch to the desired position:
        3. Lights switch off.
        4. Orientation lighting can be switched on.
        5. Parking lights stay on in certain conditions.
    • Daytime running lights
      • Optional daytime running lights increase visibility during daytime.
      • They turn on automatically when ignition is on and switch is in certain positions.
      • Green indicator light appears in the instrument cluster.
    • Daytime running lights parking function
      • Some vehicles can temporarily turn off daytime running lights.
      • To switch off:
        1. Switch ignition on.
        2. Turn light switch to the position.
        3. Apply parking brake.
      • To switch on:
        1. Release parking brake.
    • WARNING
      • Lights must be turned on in the dark, rain, or poor visibility.
      • Parking lights or daytime running lights are not enough to be seen.
      • Taillights do not switch on with daytime running lights.
      • Automatic headlights only react to brightness changes; manually switch on in fog.
    • Light functions
      • Automatic headlight control:
        • Vehicle lighting switches on/off automatically depending on light conditions.
        • Indicator lamp lights up yellow when active.
        • It is only an aid and may not detect all situations accurately.
      • Cornering lights:
        • Turn on automatically when turning slowly or on tight curves.
      • Warning tones when lights are not turned off:
        • Warning tones sound if the key is removed and driver door opened while lights are still on.
        • Applies to side lights or parking lights still on.
        • If “Coming home” is active, warning tone may not sound.
