Head Restraints

  • Introduction
    • This section explains how to adjust and remove head restraints.
    • Always ensure seats are adjusted to the correct position.
    • All seats have head restraints, approved for that specific seat only.
    • The center rear head restraint is only for the center seat.
    • There are notches in the support so head restraints lock in different positions.
    • Stops prevent head restraints from being removed unintentionally.
  • Correct head restraint adjustment
    • Adjust so the upper edge aligns with the upper portion of the head.
    • Should not be lower than eye level.
    • Keep the head close to the head restraint.
  • Head restraint adjustment for shorter persons
    • Slide the head restraint all the way down even if head is below the top edge.
    • There may be a small gap between head restraint and backrest.
  • Head restraint adjustment for taller persons
    • Move the head restraint up all the way.
  • WARNING
    • Driving with removed or incorrectly adjusted head restraints increases injury risk.
    • If someone is sitting, always use the head restraint correctly.
    • Adjust according to the person's height.
    • Never adjust head restraints while driving.
  • NOTICE
    • When removing/installing, avoid hitting the headliner or seat parts.

Adjusting the Head Restraints

  • Adjusting the height
    • Slide the head restraint up or down while pressing the button.
    • Head restraint must lock securely into place.

Removing and Installing the Head Restraints

  • Removing the front head restraints
    1. Adjust seat backrest if necessary.
    2. Slide head restraint all the way upward.
    3. Insert a flat object (e.g., plastic card) between backrest cover and guide pin cap to unlock.
    4. Pull head restraint out while pressing the button fully.
  • Installing the front head restraints
    1. Adjust seat backrest if necessary.
    2. Position head restraint above guides with both pins and insert into guides.
    3. Press the button and slide down as far as possible.
    4. Adjust to correct position and allow it to lock.
  • Removing the rear head restraint
    1. Release and fold the rear bench seat backrest forward.
    2. Slide the head restraint all the way upward.
    3. Insert screwdriver into cap slot and hold.
    4. Press button while a second person pulls head restraint out.
    5. Fold the rear seat backrest back and lock it securely.
