Door Locks

Warning: Unlocked doors can be dangerous. Passengers, especially children, can easily open the doors and fall out of a moving vehicle.

Power Door Locks

If equipped with power door locks:

  • Q : Press to lock the doors.
  • K : Press to unlock the doors.

Delayed Locking

If equipped, this feature delays locking the doors until five seconds after all doors are closed. Delayed locking can only be turned on when the Open Door Anti-Lockout feature is turned off.

When Q is pressed while a door is open, a chime sounds three times indicating delayed locking is active. The doors lock automatically five seconds after all doors are closed.

Press Q again on the door lock switch or on the RKE transmitter to lock immediately. This feature can be programmed. See Vehicle Personalization.

Automatic Door Locks

If equipped, doors lock automatically when all doors are closed, the ignition is on, and the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park).

If a door is unlocked, then opened and closed, the doors will lock when the brake is released or when vehicle speed exceeds 13 km/h (8 mph).

To unlock the doors:

  • Press K on the power door lock switch.
  • Shift the transmission into P (Park).

Automatic door locking cannot be disabled. Automatic door unlocking can be programmed.

Lockout Protection

If equipped and the ignition is on or in ACC/ACCESSORY, pressing the power door lock switch with the driver door open will lock all doors and then unlock the driver door.

If the vehicle is off and locking is requested while a door is open, the system checks for an RKE transmitter. If one is detected inside, the driver door unlocks and the horn chirps three times.

Lockout Protection can be manually overridden by pressing and holding Q with the driver door open.

Open Door Anti-Lockout

If equipped and enabled, when the vehicle is off and the driver door is open, all doors will lock and the driver door will unlock if locking is requested. This feature can be turned on or off through Vehicle Personalization.

Safety Locks

Rear door safety locks prevent passengers from opening the rear doors from inside the vehicle.

To enable the safety lock:

  1. Move the lever down to the lock position.
  2. Close the door.
  3. Repeat for the other rear door.

To open a rear door when the safety lock is on:

  1. Unlock the door using the inside handle, power door unlock switch, or RKE transmitter.
  2. Open the door from the outside.

To cancel the safety lock:

  1. Unlock and open the door from outside.
  2. Move the lever up to unlock.
  3. Repeat for the other rear door.

Tailgate

Manual Tailgate
Warning: It is extremely dangerous to ride on the tailgate. Falling from a moving vehicle may result in serious injury or death.

Use the key to unlock the tailgate. Lift the handle while pulling the tailgate down to open. Push firmly upward to close and ensure it is latched securely.

Power Release Tailgate
Warning: Keep people clear of the power tailgate while it is opening or closing.
Caution: Ensure the area behind the tailgate is clear to avoid damage.

If equipped, the tailgate can be opened using the RKE transmitter, center stack button, or the tailgate touch pad. The vehicle must be in P (Park).

Power Tailgate
Warning: Keep hands away from tailgate hinges during operation.
Caution: Clear the area behind the tailgate before opening.

To open the power tailgate:

  • Press x twice on the RKE transmitter.
  • Press the center stack button.
  • Press the touch pad after unlocking all doors.

To close the power tailgate:

  • Press and hold x on the RKE
